solo S2, its really good, and cordless too, battery lasts for about a month too. goes off even before you can ever see the cop, or the cop can see you( if they have the radar on, and its pionted at you.)

I use a whistler that I got from an online store for $99. It's a 1783 or 93. I bought one for each of my vehicles. I just can't bring myself to spend the money on an Escort or V1 when the whistler works fine. The laser detection is even decent or so it seems. I get hit with it nearly everytime I go through CT. So far the whistler has saved be from a couple dozen tickets easily.

Do you go by a lot of airports?

Only times I've ever been hit with laser is going near Airports. In fact, I drove to Findlay Ohio today in my car and the only two places the Laser went off was by Findlay's Airport and another small munciple place near just west of Van Wert.

Works better then guessing.. but you get what you pay for. I intend on going with the escort 8500 x50 or valentine 1.8 personally (leaning towards the v1).

I have used both the Valentine and the Passport 8500. I like the Passport better for these reasons. The Passport 8500 X50 seems to be better at picking up 'pop' radar. Also, with the Valentine, it seems to give you a lot more false alarms than the X50. They are the 2 best units around, and you really can't go wrong with either. But, the Passport is less expensive than the Valentine, so I think it is the best all around buy. I will never trade my Passport for anything else.

i was gonna say the EXACT same thing. i did ALOT of research before purchasing mine and i got a better deal on the X50 so that's what i got, and it works great (3 years=NO tickets!) they're both just as good, get the one you get the better deal on IMO.

buy the good ones, i bought a $90 radioshack special, and it sucked, pickup up radar when you were right up on top of the cop. then i threw that in the garbage and bought a 300 dollar one. and it was def. worth it, saved me a couple of times. so sensative. def. worth the money to get the better ones.

werd. I had a 100 dollar whistler. everytime I revved my car past 4500 rpm after owning it just six months, the laser warning would go off. Then it got stolen, I bought a 300 dollar passport 7500 and have had it for two years, no problems.

Hmph...I'm stuck between getting the Escort 8500 or the Solo version. I like the idea of the cordless; just grab it and throw it in the glove box, and not having wires all over.

I still to this day have no idea WHY it did that...

I take it you've never driven by any large airport then? I've had LASER warnings in Chicagos smaller airport, Ft Wayne Int'l and Indianapolis' airport.

When that laser warning goes off it's LOUD and instant. It always scares the **** out of me.
