Hey folks!
My name is Kris and I'm new here. I just thought I would pop in and say hello! I've got a 2001 v6. There's a 2001 GT with 12,000 miles on it for 17,500 at a local dealer here in Jersey and I was thinking about financing it. Is that a good price or should I negotiate? The salesman on the phone said his boss probably wants to move the car since it's off-season (snowy as heck here in jersey this time of year, not really ideal for a mustang). Are there any particular questions I should ask?

i know what you mean about the snow . of coarse you should nagotiate. but i would get it even if he doesnt change the price if u can afford it. you need a V8!!

Hehe. I don't know how to drive stick, so that's why I'm in search of another car. I'd rather get another Mustang than some honda or jetta. :)

come on man, you gotta learn, I learned the hard way, by myself......regarding that GT, go ahead and try to get the price a little lower, is agood price though, but as the dumbass salesman told you, they are desperate, you have the advantage, and please, dont be a sissy like that hang10 guy, get a 5 or 6 speed manual........

Heh heh. This may warrant a "go read the book" answer, but I'm curious - what is the difference between the speeds? I keep seeing different speeds and I'm not sure what they refer to. How fast the car can go? Also, this car is a 5-speed manual.

Hey 2001v6 get you that GT and check this web site out and get you a 6 spd, www.ddperformance.com. I have a 91 and that's where I got my T56.
If your gonna do anything go big and do your research and get done right the first time.

Hay Now it dont hurt to read and learn about Mustang thats what the books are for and 5.0 mag has real;ly good ideas and stories go in Feb 2004 and read about a V6 that won best in show at a Saleen show and Steven Saleen picks best in show ( I would say this is a very sweet ride ) wouldnt you ??????

the number of speeds is the number of foreward gears in the tranny it has nothing to do with the speed of the car. the only differance is that a 4-speed is usually a 5-speed without overdrive. a six speed just has closer ratio gears so there are more of them to get up to the top gear (which is just about the same as the top gear of a 5-speed).

Hey guys,
I saw the used GT and wasn't impressed honestly. It wasn't in great condition. I've begun to think about trading in my 2001 v6 for a 2004 GT and just paying the extra bit more. One thing though to keep in mind is I've *never* driven stick nor do I know anything about it. My worry is that a) I won't enjoy it and will regret the purchase for whatever reason, b) I won't be able to drive stick well, c) I'll bang up a brang new beautiful stang learning stick on it (either transmission-wise or body-wise). What would you all suggest in this case? Go for the 2004, or just hang tight with the v6? v6 has 46K miles on it. I'm really debating here as I want the GT, but I'm just worried about major regrets later. By the way, thanks to all for the advice and generousity (person who offered to help me learn).

46K is pretty low miles. Maybe just get some new chrome wheels, like 18" or bigger and it will seem like a new car. New chrome wheels have that effect on a car.

Stay with the V6 I think you will enjoy it and do alittle fixxing up it will make you happier and youll enjoy it more. And then drive it

Hey guys,
I couldn't resist. I went ahead and went with an '04 GT. Within a few days I should know what my approved APR is and we'll see how it goes from there. Friends tried to convince me to get the 350Z, or an older Firebird, but I love the stang too much. So trading in the '01 v6 for an '04 v8 (with some financing). Drove in one today with one of the salesman and man, I just couldn't get over the growl, especially in comparison to my v6. Beautiful doesn't begin to describe it. I'll keep you all updated!

yeah man definitely have fun. Good choice to thier really nice. Oh and I didn't mean to put down v6's hell i used to have one that i did all sorts of work to, stalker body kit and performance mods, lots of mods. I'm just saying if he wants speed go with the GT, plus they got more performance mods to offer.
Anyways have fun with the GT.

You all rock. Thanks for the feedback. One last tiny decision to make: the Mach 1000 or the Mach 460? Is the 1000 all that better sounding for roughly 1200 added onto the car? What about XM radio and that other new radio crap they're selling? Worth it?

It's always nice to get your system in the loan payment, but if you can swing it, it's better to get a custom install from a quality car audio place. I can't count how many times I spend the money and get the high end factory system, then 6 months later tearing half or all of it out to do a better system. HotRods_n_Booze38008.5394328704
