I have a 94 GT. Complete with the stock 5.0. She has 150000 mile and is getting a little tired. Dont get me wrong she still has her get up and go but i'll need a little time to build my a new motor. I prefer to do it myself and swap it one weekend. Trouble is I dont know if I should go with a 351 cleveland or a windsor block. I also wonder which motor I can give more bang for my buck. I am not totally stuck on a 351 though....(Im always open to any suggestions) I will mainly use this car for the street but I definatly want to have a decent run, once and awhile at the track. Im pretty sure I would want to definatly break 300 hp. Im ready to get a block and start playing with it. Any help you can give me with be appreciated.          Thanks MIKE

351W.  There is more in the aftermarket for them from the 302.  The 351C has different heads and more torque.  Suppose to be better, but parts are readily availible for the 351W.  Right guys?  Correct me if I'm wrong.... I'm actually looking into building a 351W as a replacement for my 302 down the road.  Mine is perfect with low miles, but I'll need one at some point! karma27938003.8346990741

If you arent sure about what 185's are leave the engine work to a professional.

You are a fool to not go with a windsor over a cleveland.

If i were you id build that tired 302 if this is a daily driver. There are so many parts and combos its not even funny.

Or go to the extreme and buy a 427 stroker kit for a 351. Talk about a beefy small block!

well the 347 will blow buy the ole 351..the reason I don't do the 347 was the oil control but that has beed fixed to a point but the rods as of late have been going because of the lack of piston skit legnth

I dont really want to stoke it due to the shorter engine life. I think I have decided to get another 302 make it A 306 and with all the bolt on parts now a days I think I should have know problem getting a decent powerplant to breathe strong. If you guys have any nice combos in mind. I would love to get some fresh ideas about what to but on the block. Ill let eveyone know what happens when I definatly decide what im going to do. this project is going to last a little while im building it very slowly......thanks for all the input its very helpful.....MIKE

Dude im young. Everyone has to learn. The six I built for my F250 just rolled over 45,000 and she has not given me even the slightest bit of trouble. Thata why we are all in here talking about these things, to learn dude. So next time you get a big strong mighty feeling, Leave it offline or something. thanks for the boost of confidence. how long ago did you build you first motor. then decided to do a second motor.

Are you Talking about lifters: Thinking about using crane came 1.6 adjustables.

this is just a short quick list so far im thinking like this:

JE pistons; ford forge steel crank and rods;  6qt oil pan; crane cams hydralic roller lifters; cam with just under a 400 lift; Edelbrock Performer RPM heads with a good set of valves and springs lucati or something ported and polished; Edelbrock intake, 75 mm throttle body, And a 77mm mass air meter. and lots more... not a motor i want to be blown but shortly after i do the swap I would like to give her a turbo or supercharger of some sort....

it's a lil longer rod than stock..the 75mm t/b is too big for the engine as I see a 65mm would do a lil better or a 70mm at most..a nice 500 lift cam should be in order
