Kinda the same, but the silencer and airbox will still restric airflow and won't allow for as much of a torque gain, just get a real cai and be done with it.

k&n air filter alone is like 40 bucks,so why not spend a tad bit more on an ebay cai or like double that for a mustangutning cai?

Ok, I've read this post and seen the step by step instructions. I am very new to this stuff and am looking for a CAI but I am not so sure if I will be able to install it myself. Does anyone else know of any other instructions with a bit more detail for people like me?

I assume the straight shot is an easier install, but which is more effective/efficient?

They're both about the same..the straight shot will take in warmer air if the heat shield isn't in place.

Find where it leakin and tighten it down. My K&N did that same thing. It was the plug they provided for the air temp sensor that mine doesn't have. I used a little Black RTV to seal it. Generally the CAI is gonna produce some noise. It's cus of all the air rushing in. That's normal.
