Well guys heres the story I went up to the highway with my car last saturday and its pretty fast makes 290rwhp pretty decent i guess well anyways I was beatin alot of cars i took 2 lsi camaros and a bucik grand national and then I was on my last run down the highway and a civic vtec pulls aside me right about where the onramp for the freeway starts and hes direct me to get on the ramp so im like ok and he pulls next to me as im merging so i rev it up and drop it into third and pull on him hard. Beat him pretty good didnt wanna drop into second cuz i have 3:73 rear gear and 2.95 first gear in the trans so its geared up but anyways the guy with the tsi musta have been the civics buddy cuz after i beat the civic he gets behind me and the little old red tsi comes up by my side. So i figure even though his advantage is on highway....what the hell run him anyway so we were prolly doin like somewhere around 55-60 and i rev it up and drop into fourth and then he drops so where side by side for like i dunno like 20 sec. and then i hear this big ass turbo spoolin and then he just leaves my ass behide as he passed i saw all the gauges and stuf but anyway i got off the next offramp with my head hung low. Anyhow I think i would have had a change if we were on the street what do you guys think????

Very expensive to replace parts unless you are a true DIY'er and don't mind laying on your back at the local pick & pull.
I raced an older Talon or Eclipse (I forget what it was), claimed he was running high 12's and absolutely destroyed him after we both got out of first gear.
Good story, don't be ashamed you got raped by a FI car. Why don't you put a supercharger on your car? I see kits going for $1,500-2,000 now..

the good thing about the first gen eclipse/talons were the block. if im not mistaken, they had the strongest 4G63 block of all the turbo dsm's. theyre no joke. i think hp for money wise, i think one of the import mags did a test on 'em, and they made the most hp with the least amount of money. you can make 'em fast. plus, the awd helps out of the hole, and theyre not too bad from a run either. i beat a first gen b4 i came to school. he had an aftermarket bov, and exhaust, but i still had him. i only beat him by like a car or 2, but, idk if it was driver, the car, or a combination. it was quick, but, not quick enough and like they said, dont feel bad about it. the lil cars are quick when theyre modded.

Oops Nanaki I meant ls1 oh and Im not worried about that talon cuz come next spring im gonna show'em what happens when you strap a turbo on a v8 hopefully will be makin 500rwhp at a consecutive 9lbs of boost should be fun. I'm prolly gonna go with an HP turbo kit
My buddy went to the Hot Import Nights in chicago, stupid I know but he said at the races the TSi owned everything, all they have to do is upgrade a few things here and there bigger turbo etc, gut the car of excess weight, and they'll blow away some TT supra's and alot of cars for that matter, definatly one of those cars to not take it easy on. I would have dropped it into 3rd doing 55, just my opinion though. NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT! Thats right V8 Turbo'd no one can touch it!
The TSi is AWD so you should have an advantage on the highway, the reason he prob pulled on you in the higher speeds was becuz of your gear.. your 3.73 is not that great of a gear for a top speed kinda race... sorry to say but from a dig you wouldve got your ass handed to you.. odds are he races his car alot and if that is the case, with a modded TSi he will prob pull a sub 2 second 60', meaning under 2.0.. you prob wont be able to pull that so hed have you off the line and then he would just keep pulling cuz he obviously has higher top end...

3.73's are much b etter than 3.27's.
I don't get where people get the idea that shorter gears are bad for races from a roll. They will get you to your powerband extremely quicker than a taller gear.
