A) I bought my Cobalt SS because my LS1's got boring

B) I would bet anyone here with a stock GT $100 that within 3 runs they wouldn't see 13's

C) My Cobalt SS bone stock runs 148mph, how fast is a GT? Without gears after 4th ends at
about 120mph it takes another 20 minutes to even hit 140mph.

Back from the dead or not people need to stop being so ignorant and stupid. The average times for a 99-04 GT are not 13.8 to 14.1 more like 14.1-14.8 with a very good driver. And like I said before the 99-04 GT will easily beat a Cobalt SS of the line but I have more than enough top end to catch up. From a roll even a GT will look very bad.

I wouldn't own the cars that I have and then buy this one if it wasn't fast.............

you're an idiot. get your head out of your ass, cavalier driver. how the hell can you argue that a cobalt is not a cavalier? go take a look at it. yes, stock 99-04's do not usually hit 13's, but almost all of them are low 14's, which is out of your domestic rice league. there have been some stupid noobs on here, but I think you might actually be the most retarded one of all time. I don't believe you've ever owned any of those cars in your sig, because if you had, you'd know a fast car from an econobox with forced induction. and don't even pretend that the cobalt ss is underrated from the factory. you should've bought a neon instead of that POS.

Cobalt has no more top end than a 2valve. The Cobalt traps about 98 but the GT traps between 98 and 100. The 2 valve has more top end and more low end. The Cobalt IS NOT FASTER THAN A 2V GT. You know nothing about your slow car.

Well, in his defence... Its a completly different car... GM nolonger builds on the J-Body platform. Although IMO he would of been better of with a 03-04 Caviler & S/C or turboing the 2.2L ECOTEC in those instead of have a heavier 2.0 ECOTEC Colbalt. & It would have been more of a sleeper & faster.

la ta tee dum. i like how all stock GTs run 14.1-14.8, yet all the times i've seen posted in here recently have been like a 14.2 stock. i'm guessing a majority of our users (except you, of course) are not professional drivers. they still hit a 14.2 though. use the search function of the site and go look it up. and yeah, who the hell races to 120mph anyway? you're going to end up in a body bag real soon.

where in the north east are you located? my GT is stock. honest.

my, way too stock tune up with timing adjustment is my only mod, stock 95 5.0 convert with 3:27s from the factory will get up to 137 in 4th within a 1/2m. I stopped there because of road conditions and vibration, my car was pulling hard all the way up! I had a gear to go. I know my motor wont top out my 5th gear but it didnt take more than one minute to reach 137 so I think 140was easily within 20 minutes. The previous owner raced it at the track and got a 14.7 which I have yet to do. So a 95 'vert one of the slowest heaviest GTs (stock!) is right in there with 99 and newer GTs?
No its just not so! if your stang couldnt pull all the way up to 140 you bought a v6 or a lemon
if new GTs run14.1 to 14.8 then SS runs 14.4 to 15.1
certainly there is overlap but if the stang driver cant use his HP and torque advantage to beat you he should sell his stang and buy a fast fwd economy car with forced induction

What i dont understand, is MANY times now, he has said that a good driver in a GT can run 14.1 or up

but in every example of his racing he says it is his perfect driving to a 14.2-14.3 to a losers driving in a GT who gets no better than a 14.5

so yea, using his logic, my car could drive to a 14.0 ALL DAY and i would always beat a stock LS1 .. i mean, since theyre bad drivers and bad drivers run low 14's

Bone stock dyno run - 219HP / 191FtLbs

Bone stock 1/4 time - 14.4 @ 99.6mph

You guys need a serious wake up call, yes a under-rated 205HP Cobalt SS would hand your stock GT it's ass, Deal with it. Anyone here should be smart enough to crunch the numbers. My 2900lbs car puts down more WHP than a Auto GT and within 15 of a manual GT. I had a 2003 GT I got tired of losing so I bought a couple LS1's but they got boring because the only Mustang competition was 03/04 Cobras.

Anyone here from NE with a stock GT wanna put a couple bucks on a race?

Before I can completely embarass you when I start modding

Ok Ill keep my 97 cobra (Im from Quincy, MA) btw until march before I get my 04 Cobra. I can promise you, YOU WILL LOSE PERIOD. Stock 97 Cobra's run low to mid 13's STOCK mind you. With just the little bolt ons they see 12's all day long. I have raced 2 SS's in my town so far and they were both embarassing. The first was from a dead stop at a light and yes he did stick with me until i stopped spinning first, once I hit second and hooked, goodbye I never saw the car again I just stayed on it. The second was on the highway. I was in 4th but downshifted to 3rd and jumped the rpm's to around 4300-4700. And again end of 3rd, all of fourth into fifth he again HAD NO CHANCE WHAT SO EVER. I ended up at 150 and could barely see the car anymore. Im not saying my 97 cobra is crazy because its not, but it hands M3's, Cavalier SS's *Cobalt SS's excuse me, and what not thier asses in a doggy bag. Which really isn't anything to brag about because I cannot stand racing those cars. BUT When a toolbag like you comes on here and really tries to convince and YOURSELF that your Cobalt has a chance your wrong DEAD WRONG. Btw, 03/04 cobras, do some more reading, 2000 Cobra R would rape you, Saleen would rape you, Hell stage 3 Roush would rape you. 96-98 and 99-01 cobra's will beat you. The only cobra that is around your car is a 93 Cobra. Which even still with the right driver WILL BEAT YOU. Do not come to a mustang forum with crap like this, it's an all out flame fest and you end up talking to yourself because thats simply the only person who believes your nonsense. PLEASE Grow up.
