thats probably why the upgrades for the Cobalt SS offered (at least at Tom Henry, covered by warranty) are not pulley upgrades, but instead fuel system upgrades and such, then a turbo (yes, turbo and supercharged), etc.

I believe it's Tom Henry- they made special edition Tahoes and SS camaro's with the bullitt wheels etc. special edition SS trucks too.

you should be able to waste the cobalt no prob.

with enough wasted time and money 4 bangers can be fast.... but like I said wasted time and money, and their power doesn't show up until they are about to redline and the turbo finally kicks in..... V8s are where it's at, power all through the band....

as for the cradle robbing I"m 18 and my girlfriend is 16.... 2 year difference. I see no problem in a 1-2 year difference...

anyway just annihilate that cobalt and be done with it..

George

yeah no kidding...when *I* get older too. Heck if I tried that right now, the girl would be 12

I woud have to date 1 year old girls to do that now.

Generally speaking, some 4 cylinder platforms seem to work pretty well, such as the Evo and WRX Sti. The SRT-4 does pretty well also, and for less money. I've seen more than one "Neon" run 11s at my local strip (Gateway International). I haven't seen or heard too much about the Cobalt SS yet, but a guy in my F-body club recently got one and put down around 210 to the wheels (more than the advertised flywheel hp!) so I'll keep you guys posted. The dyno was during my club's dyno day, lots of witnesses to back up the sheets. It was consistent for the three pulls, not a fluke or mistake.

As for the hijack topic, I'm 27 and I recently got on a 20 year-old. She can't even legally drink yet. Cradle robbing on my part? I felt kinda bad about that one.

yeah combo charging is popular for the small displacement supercharged cars. like the mini S has a bad ass combo charger kit

You don't have anything to worry about from that wrong-wheel-drive car. Make sure everyone at your school knows that your mustang can rape that car.

I found the cobalt in question, guy in my club drives it.
http://www.fastlouis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36869&highlight=cobalt+dyno

Dissapointing track times and trap speed, considering the dyno numbers. Scroll down to a little below half page.

In the Cobalt's defense, it was August in St. Louis (swamp ass heat and humidity).

Still a slug - would take the 03 manual with my stock 00 V6 and it would be a drivers race with the 05 cooper and my car.

Hell my senior class was PRHS's largest graduating class ever at 124. But our school had very little in ways of trucks. We mostly had either old used economy cars or ricers, only a hand full of trucks and domestic racers.

PRHS? Where are you from? I graduated from Pine-Richland High School with a graduating class of around 120. We had few trucks too, mostly rich familys in our area driving dads car, or dads hand me down.

I would put my money on the Cobalt. First off its a Chevy, plus its lighter and will get the holeshot.

First off, you are wrong. Second off, well thats about it. 205hp 200ft/lbs of torque? YOU got to be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!! A cavalier(Cobalt) with a pussy supercharger like that one is not going to take a 03GT. Have you seen these cars at the track? I dont think so, cuz if u did u would know they are dogs! Car&driver's pro test team mustered a 14.6 with one. I havnt seen one out of the 15's yet! you are right about the weight difference. It is 260 lbs. That is EASILY made up by the stangs 60hp and 100ft/lbs of torque over the cobalt/blown cavalier.

Think before you go off spouting off some Chevy>mustang ****!! Its niether wanted nor appreciated

And before you say anything else, i know that your car is faster than mine! It is very nice, and would stomp most N/A 4.6's here. I Know when the mustang is the underdog, and this is not one of those times

if it's truelly a stock base Cobalt SS I should hope you beat him. Those cars are under-rated though and do have pretty significant factory upgrade packages available some that put the car over 300hp. It's somewhat rediculous. Hopefully he didn't order one of those when he bought the car or you might be in trouble.

no they arent they have the same supercharger as the benz 230. that POS can only handle like 8 psi of boost

Not the same charger. And the Cobalt's supercharger puts out 13 psi stock.

But, the mustang should win. Most kids who drive Cobalts can't drive them worth a damn anyways. I've seen plenty in the 15's (I want to smack those a$$clowns for not knowing how to launch) but still trapping 95-98 mph. I've only seen one guy (looked 30 something) pull a low 14 out of a stock Cobalt SS with nothing more than airing down the front tires a little. But that being said, assuming equal drivers, I'd put my money on the Stang.

Sorry guys but a bone stock Cobalt SS will easily keep up with a 99+ GT. From a dig the GT will get the jump but the SS will easily fill the gap.

From a roll it's a different story, the SS will eat the GT alive assuming it isn't running Nitrous or Forced induction. I had a 2003 GT with all of the common Bolt-Ons and my Cobalt SS would still run circles around it anywhere oter than a dig.

Dude please don't magazine race it's pathetic.

And if you try at least use the right numbers:
2005 Cobalt SS
0-60 - 5.9
1/4 Mile - 14.4 @ 100mph

Those numbers are still very average, with perfect traction it will be easy to beat a 14.4

A bone stock Cobalt SS will lay down 218-223WHP and it weighs 2900lbs do the math.

After the GM Stage kits are released I will be playing with 05 GT's and LS1's.
