sidewayz4.6......You said mustang will never have the following that the vette has.Do you mean to say that there are more people behind the vette than the mustang? If so i dont see how you can make such a statement i mean look at the this site its a mustang not vette site. Not to mention all the mustang mags and the mustang aftermarket is huge the same can not be said about the vette.Im not saying no one cares about the vette just that there are way more mustang loyals than i think there are vette loyals.

To clear something up its not the mustang vs the vette that fords is after is the cobra vs the vette there after. You guys say oh well there are v-6's and the gt is in no way near a vette and all that is true but why do you think the mustang sells so well? Its because ford gives its buyers alot to choose from and the public likes that.Just because there are some weak cars in the line does not mean the cobra is overlooked.Agian im not saying the cobra is better but 2003 has cought up a bit there 1/4's are not that far off.

You said he couldn't make a claim like that, and then you made the same claim on a different car...I'm not starting anything, just pointing out you're being the pot and calling the kettle black.
Both Vettes and Mustangs have their following. To say one car has more of a following than the other is simply not provable and a completely pointless arguement to get into about.

True that, you did... but it's still a point you can't prove. Just because there are more magazines for Mustangs doesn't mean there's more loyalists for Mustangs over Corvettes and vice versa.

own3dbyyou....OK maby its not definate proof but it makes a good case. The reason mustang mags and the big aftermarket is around is because mustang fans demanded it.That in its self proves there are alot of fans for the mustang. Its stands to reason that if there are even more vette fans than why dont they have some mags and why is there aftermarket much smaller?
I know none of that is definate proof but like i said it makes a good argument.

Donteventry........Muscle mustangs and fast fords,5.O,mustang monthly, and mustang and fast fords just to name a few.I have never seen any of those vette mags, i think ive seen mid america on the stands but none of the others.Im not saying they're not real but they cant sell to many or they would be on the stands.MM&ff and 5.O are main stream they are on every mag rack and stand that sells auto mags.
The sales numbers dont lie there have been more mustangs sold then vettes,i know that largly has to do with price but remember price plays into this as well.Alot of fans like the fact that they can get a mustang brand new mustang with out paying an arm and a leg.If you notice alot of people are looking forward to the new mustangs because they know they have a chance to own one but alot of the vette guys look forward to a new vette but know they will never own one. They just like the fact a newer one is coming and that you guys can be proud of.Thats fine you guys should be proud but my point is mustangs appeal to people on more lvls than i think the vette can.
They both have the classic name plate both have speed and styling but the mustang is afordable and practical maby its not huge or roomy but they do have a second row of seats.I find the second row useful when i take my sister and her little kids anywhere.Plus im not positive but doesnt the mustang have more trunk room and better mpg?again not positive on those.

You don't understand. Mustang people and Corvette people are two different species. Most people buy a Mustang because they are easy and cheap to get aftermarket parts to make go faster. Are they they cheapest to make go really fast, no. If you want a car to run low 13's or 12's, then Mustangs are pretty cheap to do it to. People that buy Corvettes, buy them for the sake to have a Corvette. They do not typically mod a vette. Vette's are one of the few performance cars that you can sell for nearly as much money as you paid for it several years down the road. If it's old enough, you'll get wayyyyy more money for it than what you paid.

It has nothing to do with sales. The reason they sell more mustangs is because they produce 6-10 mustangs for every one Corvette. I would bet that Corvette has a better chance of selling a the full amount of Vettes produced in a given year than Mustang does. I will not disagree that Mustang or Corvette have huge followings, but to sit there and honestly try and say one is more popular than the other is simply absurd. There is literally no possible way to prove that assertation. When you say most Vette guys will never own the new Corvette, I would also disagree. I would venture to say most C5 owners could buy a C6 if they so desired. I myself am considering it, but my other option is a used Viper GTS. I am unsure of which, but that's ok, as I don't require a decision until a few years down the road. Either choice I make, I will keep my C5. I do not mean to gloat at all, but us Vette guys don't buy these cars because we can't afford them.

I would hope that every american muscle car enthusiast can appreciate both the vette and the stang. They are pretty much classified as american icons; Just to name a few.
I have to disagree that GM would sell more of the vette if they simply upped production. Supply and demand is the name of the game. They make just enough vettes every year to satisfy the crowd. If they overproduce they loose money. There are many mathmaticians solving equations to satisy this curve.
Ford on the other hand simply sells more cars because they are marked for a much larger group of people. To people like many women who could care less about power and just like the looks, to hard core racing fans who like the relatively new line ,the "SVT". More sells=more production=more popularity
Donteventry, go for the viper man that would be the sh!t. If I had one I would probably kill myself driving it home. I just saw a 97GTS go for $51,000 at the Barret Auction.

It will be a while before I do anything, but I am making myself wait until I test drive a C6 and actually get to see one in person. I have yet to drive a GTS, but I have a feeling I would make my mind up too quickly if you catch my drift.
They actually let people test drive these things? Or do you have to drive up to them in a C5 to prove that you will be able to afford a Vette?
They let me test drive my C5 when I bought it from Corvettes of Dallas. They handed me the key and said "take her for a spin." It was quite funny too because the gear pattern is so tight, that when I tried driving off, I was really in 3rd and stalled. I cranked it back up and went along thinking "this thing doesn't accelerate like it should. " Then I said, "wait, let me try something" and I pulled it all the way over as it would go, and holy mother, I found 1st. After that, a buddy wanted to test drive some C5's and when I pulled up to the dealer in my C5, they were offering me to test drive any car on the lot. I also got to test drive a used 03 Cobra when I pulled up in my Vette to a Ford dealership. It was fun, but I wasn't all that impressed.
