Default My COBRA vs INTEGRA

Hey guys, new here, this is my first post on the forum...</P>

Was crusin home from work tonight in my 03 Cobra that I bought 3 weeks ago, and a black integra pulls up andpaces me. He looked stock, with stock rims, stock looking exhaust and lowered a little bit, so i was like, ok i'll smoke him bad, and go for it.</P>

1ST RUN - we were goin 35-40 andi gun it first andget a half car leadbefore he goes for it. to my surprise hestarted pulling on me. took it up to 110 before we shut it down, and he had about 5 lengths on me. i was like WTF! i wanted to race again and we started pacing each other, but ended up coming up to a red light.</P>

2NDRUN - when it turned green we went. i spun a little but had a better launch (he was spinning his tires). i pull ahead by a car and a half, but he crept up when he got traction. then he just started to pull. he had a length on me at the end of first, took it up to about 100, he had about 5-6 lengths on me.</P>

I was so shockedthat i got beat byan integra. My Cobra is completely stock and i only got it 3 weeks ago, but i do know how to drive (i own other sportscars as well). we eventually pull up at the next gas station. asked him if he was boosted or had nitrous. he said no...saidhe had a "fully built"LS/Vtec.he let me look in the hood and in the car, no nitrous or turbo, looked like a pretty good set-up.said he had port and polish head, type-r cams, individual throttle bodies, etc, etc...i was just so shocked, never expected to be beat by an integra, especially a completely stock looking one. talk about sleeper! sorry bout the long post...</P>

Sleeper LS/VTEC setups will do that. I love sleepers...they make people look twice and then are surprised when they pull so hard... <IMG src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0">I saw the title of the threadand I was expecting you to have murdered him, but after the first paragraph I was in shock reading about your being in shock too. lol</P>

LS/VTEC is basically a 1.8L Integra Long block with either a B16a2 or B18c1 VTEC head on it...he might have some high compression pistons in there as well as with the cams he mentioned (probably ITR cams), throttle body(ies), intake and exhaust they've been known to push out 250++ whp without a turbocharger or nitrous. </P>

Got any modifications in store for the Cobra? That should help you to leave him in your dust next time. <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P><edited><editID>own3dbyyou</editID><editDate>38000.2053240741</editDate></edited>

i met a guy recently with a similar setup in a honda civic. he's pushing 187 to the wheels, with a best ET of 12.8.

yeah because of weight it doesn't take much power to move a civic or integra. and since he had an integra all he had to dolike own3dbyyou mention, was add a vtec head.

You gotta look at the power to weight ratio.</P>

YEAH there light, but not light enough to run those times. If that was the case then the Monster Miata would have been running 9's with the 91 mustang GT motor back when the monster miata's were being made. Weight does have it's advantages, but it also has many disadvantages. Especially front wheel drive cars.</P>

Or so these people say.... It's hard to believe a lot of the s**t people say unless you see it. I could say all day long I've got a N/A car running 12's. A stock '03 Cobra should kill a N/A Integra. Even if it was built to the gills, or a B16A2 or whatever that ricer crap means... he shouldn't get 6 lengths on him. I don't doubt you can make an Integra beat a new Cobra.... but 6 cars on him. WTF is that about?
