242HP at the wheels and 308TQ Not bad for a 4 banger I guess but there is another 04 WRX there with 230 AWHP and 280 TQ running 12.7s with supporting mods of course. So i am intrested to see what I would run. But not bad for a 4 banger. Im in need of a larger Turbo
Yeah, I was talking with a STOCK 2002 cobra owner who was basically just complainging about all these awful turbo 4 banger kids we have running around down here in phoenix. He said they beat him off the line but he reels em in every time so it doesnt even matter. who cars how fast you can pull off the line if your gonna lose anyway. oh and obviously a modded wrx will beat a cobra but if were talking stock for stock its easy to tell wich car is faster. how about this, if your suburus and your mitsubishis are so much better, quicker and faster than our fords and chevys, why dont you move up one level in the "fast car world" and start racing some vipers or corvettes?

Hey 2k stang, Why are you calling out on all the cobras and GT's. If You so big and bad come and race my little 95 cobra. Its funny because, you have aboslutly no race experience and you calling out all these people. I've been racing pro for a long time, Formula 3000, and it wouldn't be fair to you if i call you and your friends STI to the road track, or would it? My cobra has 490rwhp, and until this day no matter how fast or what mods the sti or wrx , i killed them. I usually dont race my cobra, its basically a waste of time when in my old job i use to get to speeds greater than 200mph. I just think that when you guys compare times based on a magazine, that has nothing to do with how the car will act on the streets. Your 13.2( magazine time) could equal to a 15 sec car if you dont launch right and if you dont know how to shift. So lets do less talking and actually have these people race.

1st gear is literally useless. I hit the rev limiter so hard last night punching it in 1st. I've got to find a way to jump into the powerband in first then really quickly shift into second, or just start off in 2nd gear. Damn this short 6 speed! =p

to get back to the original question 98Cobra vs 05WRX ...this is just ridiculous, of course the Cobra will win DUH! i'm not speaking as a biased person i'm putting myself in a purely neutral and logical position when i say this. 305hp/300tq vs 227hp/217tq seems pretty obvious to me. who cares about a 200lb difference, that's not gonna change anything, 200 pounds requires about 20hp to even things out, the cobra has almost 80 extra hp and over 80tq. it's not even a contest, the AWD won't save it either. car and driver gave the WRX a 14.7 @ 94 but i have to admitt car and driver's times usually suck. automobile mag gave it a 14.5 @ 94 and sport compact car (the most biased import mag of all time) gave it a 14.2 @ 95 ...pretty respectable times but it's not gonna beat a Cobra. 200si i'm pretty disapointed, you're usually much more knowledgable than that, doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that 305hp/300tq in a 3200lb car = 13s' (unless you drive like a retard). but sorry no i haven't found any videos to prove it, i haven't found any videos of cobras running 14s' either by the way.

Well first off, I don't know everything. and I've yet to find any proof of it... since then I've gotten over this retarded debate.
Second... 225hp/300 ft lbs in a 19 year old car doesn't impress me the least, because the car weighs too much and has a huge engine that had so much more potential than 225 hp. Where as a turbo 2 liter makes 8 less horsepower at the flywheel.

actully there was a front page article on Hot Rod magazine an AMERICAN magazine and they did a comparo on a 03 cobra and a 03 sti and the sti won by a 10th of a second so its most likly a drivers race.THe sti being 300hp and the cobra being 390 hp both running low 13's.
