A Cobra will spank it even more from a roll. The Wrxs and all those are not known for having more torque from a roll and the cobra will get even better traction then
Im not dissing you bro. I love Ford and all but I've recently opened my eyes to new cars out there. I havent lost to a WRX, SRT4, or STI..but I do ride shotgun and I have video taped many passes in my buddies SRT4 with a 60-1 Turbo and it has beat 11sec Z28's and SS's on slicks. Each and every time from dead stop, we are behind, but the top end on a STRONG turbo (20psi) in the SRT4...man we laugh at them LS1's. On a roll its much much worse. A 30mph or 40mph punch and its no contest.

just becasue i have exhuast and intake doesnt mean im going to run in the 12's. Stock will run in the 13's, it's even rated at 13.9, in which a good drive would beat. And the WRX, which is what we're discussing, has 227 hp, NOT 300!

A 14 second Cobra vs a 14 second turbo four banger, oh but of course this is mustangforums... so the mustang can nevar l0se!
Look at the trap speeds. Cobra will trap 103ish, the wrx wont break 100. If you lived in the real world and experience things as opposed to mag race, youd know that a cobra like his will destroy a stock WRX, especially from a roll.
Uh... yeah... where are you getting this trapping 103? I'm not seeing any proof besides the number you just made up.
Not saying either way...here's the links for 0-60 and 1/4 mile for BOTH cars. No mention of trap speed tho...sorry!
If he just has a catback, consider him bone stock. A catback exhaust on the WRX really doesn't do much performance wise. You've got to replace the downpipe, uppipe, etc before you see any real gains.
His AWD will generally give him the advantage from a stop, but I'd think you'd take him pretty easily after that. Especially if you guys raced from a roll, I don't think he'd have a chance.
Now if he had an 06 WRX, it might be a little more interesting. They're finding those to be severely underrated from the factory as they've gotten a 0.5L increase over the past models. Word on another forum is that an 06 WRX, bone stock, ran a 13.4.

Ok, now go find me a video of a 98 Cobra breaking into the 13s stock, you know like I've been asking you for proof of since the start of the thread.
I think the concensous is that a 98 cobra will take the WRX leaving the burden of proof on you to prove that it cant. Now go make videos!

I'm simply asking one of those owners to show me a video or time slip of what he ran stock as a baseline before modifying. It really shouldn't be that hard.
my rule for racing those AWD turbo 4 cylinders is to go from a roll. that way your HP destroys them. if you from a dig, they pull quick and our RWDs dont hook.

If you're talking stock for stock, WRsex vs. a Cobra, the WRX is going to lose unless you have a child behind the wheel of the cobra. A friend of mine and I were driving in his Stage 2 WRX wagon a few months ago and he tried to race a Cobra from a roll. It was a joke, the Cobra pulled hard on him. Even with the traction difference from a stop, I'd still think that Cobra would rape him hard once he hooked up. IDK if that Cobra was stock, but he pulled on him like it was a joke hah.
Now my car would be a pretty even challenge for a Cobra, but I've never raced one so I couldn't tell you. But then you're comparing a heavily modified car to a stock car, which isn't a fair comparison.
