yyou cant talk about trap speeds in a 1/4 and then try to relate that to racing from a roll, its two different kind of races.. you think that an n/a 8 cyclinder with beat a turbo car on the top end?

YES dumbass. It will beat it to death. stock turbos doesnt always mean uve got the winner partner. Dont make me use an example of that. At high speeds the cobra will be layin down its max hp and the wrx will be layin down its max hp. 2000si dont even say the weight makes up for 80hp topend. I dont understand u people. If u are a decent driver, you will hammer the wrx. Its not a question. I dont know why this is even a thread

A 14 second Cobra vs a 14 second turbo four banger, oh but of course this is mustangforums... so the mustang can nevar l0se!

How is a 305hp cobra a 14 sec car? 99-04 gt is low 14 isnt it? Wrx awd 227hp vs cobra with 305+ hp? I dont get it. You are the one thats being inreasonable! 99gt vs WRX stock for stock goes to mustang. Maybe u can argue that, but not the cobra!

So what you're saying is that a 1998 Cobra weighing 3393 lbs and 305 hp is a 13 second car? Proof? You're going to debate me just to debate me on this, aren't you? When I see proof of this I'll retract my statements.

But when I see data like 305 hp, 3393 pounds and a 0-60 time of 5.4, I don't exactly think 13 second car. Since the 99-04 GTs pull 0-60s of 5.4-5.6 and they're low 14 in the quarter, I tend to think it's of equal performance between the two.

But hey, I guess numbers really do lie and weight never matters.

And when two mustangs almost equal in weight one having 45more hp and the same 0-60 I see that someone f'ed up on that test. 99gt isnt faster or equal to 98 cobra in 0-60 or 1/4 mi or whatever kinda race u want. Motor trend or whoever needs some new drivers

Thats exactly like saying that a honda civic ex 1.6L 127 hp I4 is as fast or faster than an SI 1.6L 160 hp I4. What do u think about that?

Yea dude. Unarguably it is the Cobra. If you want a real race stay with cars that have V8s or a least severly modified 6s, don't even bother with those 4 banger wanabes.

Ok that was too far and 100% IGNORANT. Do u understand how many 4 bangers that will flat out destroy your car? Mine as well. No respect for something you obviously know nothing about just makes u look like an asshole. Go to the track and watch! Red turbo integra spanks my ass at the track EVERY NIGHT. Ive raced him over 10 times and only won once. He runs slick, but im not makin excuses. He's just faster. Id love to see your sixer line up against him. U run mid 10's in the 1/8 right? Or is it high 10's?

I dont like how you said that but it is a good point.

It hurts me to say but it is possible for the Cobra to lose. It weighs so much more. People forget how much a difference weight plays in a race.

A Cobra will spank it even more from a roll. The Wrxs and all those are not known for having more torque from a roll and the cobra will get even better traction then

Im not dissing you bro. I love Ford and all but I've recently opened my eyes to new cars out there.
I havent lost to a WRX, SRT4, or STI..but I do ride shotgun and I have video taped many passes in my buddies SRT4 with a 60-1 Turbo and it has beat 11sec Z28's and SS's on slicks.
Each and every time from dead stop, we are behind, but the top end on a STRONG turbo (20psi) in the SRT4...man we laugh at them LS1's.
On a roll its much much worse. A 30mph or 40mph punch and its no contest.

"imageisme" is my buddies screen name on srtforums.com and svtperformance.
He dyno's SAE CORRECTED 415rwhp or more with some good mods and that car made me open my eyes to the 4 cyl world.

Isnt the F1 racing with four banger too? I still prefer a DOHC 4V or 3V Ford over and import;)

Do people forget how much the AWD WRX weighs? 3085
Do people even know how much the cobra weighs? 3364

For all the mathmaticians here that 279lbs. Not even close to enough to make up for 80hp

Do people forget that the WRX puts down a massive 217ft/lbs of torque?

Uhh, a 98 cobra is in the 13s bone stock. I've seen a 97 5 speed run 13.8 at 101 on a summer day. They're very much like 99, 01 cobras in performance. That was on regular tires. I say the cobra wins and not because i'm biased toward mustangs. An STI would be a different story but just cause you're biased toward imports doesn't make them any faster or domestics any slower. A 98 cobra should, under normal shifting and operating conditions beat a WRX. Launching plays a factor in this. I honestly think the cobra had a tenth or two still in it under the right weather.

Enough of this seen stuff. I want you guys to REALLY, UNDOUBTEDLY prove me wrong for a ****ing change. Go find me a goddamn video of a bone stock 98 Cobra running anywhere in the thirteens and I WILL secede my comments.

You guys just want to give me "I saw it" heresay. It proves to me nothing.

Now goddamnit, why do I have to bitch you guys out just to get you to prove me wrong for a change?

What are you the next hitler? we can only drive domestics even though they have horrible reliability and V8s do nothing but promote illegal street racing.

Heil Hitler!

BTW. you have a 98 Cobra, do me a favor and post up some bone stock 13 second time slips for me.

Please people, think of the kittens!

eh... I'd say you're wrong.

What are V8s built for? To go fast. Who do these kids with civics try to race? V8 cars. Why? because they think they're as fast as the V8s.

"Ricers" wouldn't exist if there weren't V8s running around. Seriously, the V8 was thought up for speed. The revolution of the V8 is the entire reason the NHRA was thought up and created.

V8s promote street racing, always have. always will. Kthanx.

Anyway, SVT... Do you have any STOCK 13 second time slips for your car? I'm trying to get someone to prove me wrong, yet no one's answered the challenge yet.

yeh, the only reason we "promote" street racing is because u ****s always try to race us, like u have to prove that your car is worth something. Cobras look good, sound good, and are fast. Your cars look like ****, sound like ****, and most are slow.. I understand that some imports will beat me, like an EVO or a STI. But y would u drive that if u could have an American car???? and im not Hitler im American, and proud of it

Christ... you newbs have short fuses. I love yanking your chain.

Looks on any car is simply and unarguably subjective. I personally would take a 99 Cobra over a 98, but whatever... it still looks good and was a good car for the time period in which it was built.

So, since you run 13s with modifications, do you think you would have ran 13s bone stock?
