My '84 GT with a T5 has more electrical connections than wires running to it from the car. Could the extra connection be for the optional "upshift" light? The jackass tranny shop that worked the car for the prev. owner had the cruise control xducer connection plugged into this-made troubleshooting the inop cruise control REAL FUN.

The backup lights work, so this unconnected wire must belong to something else. The connector is a white round shell type with the locking tabs. There is another like it, and it is connected. There is also another wire  that is connected to a screw in connection on the side of the trans.

My dad has an '85 GT with a T5. I'll take a look and get back to you.

The trans is not the original one, so you must be right-Wonder if I can use it as a cutoff to keep the engine from grenading if the car goes into neutral with the c/c on? Thanks for the info
