I never said tht it is just as bad as a neutral drop, i said tht it will do basically the same things because it will ruin the 1st gear and the torque converter, but it will ruin the tranny eventually.

It would take a long time to mess the tranny up beyond a driveable condition just by preloading the suspension before take off. You can actuall power brake an auto all you want, it would still take a good bit of time to ruin the tranny.

It really won't do any damage unless you do it every time you drive the car. Actaully preloading like that is easier on the u-joints and rear end as there is not as much shock. It won't ruin first gear and it won't ruin the torque convertor, cars are not made out paper and twigs, they can take quite a bit of abuse.

RE: Preloading?

True, when you have the converter loaded in low gear you are building up heat in the trans/converter. Tha's why I've always used a trans cooler on every car I've ever raced.
Failure of converter/trans? Nope, not if they are in good shape to start with........

I think physical violence by sledgehammer is the only thing as bad as a neutral drop on an auto tranny.
