12.5 it pisses me off
and when I drive "correctly" the best i can get (of up to 3 days of doing this) is 15 mpg

could you be doing bad math?

1) Stop for fuel at a gas staion, at a certain pump. remember how you parked.

2)record mileage and then fill up all the way. do not overfill, when it shuts off your done, dont force more in.

3)Go drive and use that tank, the less you have left the better.

4)Repeat number 1 and park in the same spot the same way.

5)record mileage again and fill up.

6) take the difference in mileage from your first reading to your second and divide that by the amount of gas you just put in the car.

Example: 1st mileage reading 1000
2nd mileage reading 1400
difference of 400 miles divided by (the amount of gas you just put in) lets say 15gallon

400 divided 15 = 26.66 miles per gallon

Are you sure there's only 6 spark plugs? If its brand new you may want to let it get broken in a little, they usually get better.

Yea dude new engines do burn more gas, but if this continues you better go see Ford. Now I hope you know you aren't going to get 28mph as advertised, more like and adverage of 20-24 mph on a fillup unless you do a lot of road time (not highway), then your numbers will go way down. Just to let you know I adverage between 20-22mpg.

Are you spending lots of time at stop lights?
After playing with the onboard MPG computer I found that I get ok mileage until I hit a stop light and then it drops like a rock! So in my GT I can get it up to 23 mpg when driving but after just one long light it can drop down to 16 or 17.
Try the old fashioned way but if your gas tank is defective, like so many Mustangs, you might not be able to fill your tank up to the same level each time!

I got 25.1 driving from Raleigh to DC after changing the oil at 500 miles. Around town I average 16.8 but I have a heavy
foot and lots of stoplights. I'll see what I get tonight on my DC-Raleigh NC commute now that the car has 5000 miles.

a little hard on the accelerator?

Dude, keep track of your mileage by keeping track of the miles you drive between fillups and then by how much you put into the gas tank. Then calulate. Maybe the computer is off. 12.5 is a bit extreme. I'm getting 23.5 on average (and that includes some spirited driving)

Im also getting only 12-15 mpg max on my v6.

I calculate the mileage always the same way, exactly how bahbahblacksheep explained.

Hope Mills? I'm near Buies Creek :) We should figure out when a local event is held and introduce ourselves.

Hey, True Blue Performance is in Angier http://www.trueblueperformance.com/ I visited this place during lunch one day last week...nice guys, nice shop!

And these guys are in Benson http://www.dunnbensondragstrip.com/ OOPS that's the strip :)

I meant this shop in Benson: http://www.fastlanemotorsports.us/UNewsDetail.asp?newsid=24

What's the shop in Raleigh??

I bought my Xcal2 online, and have been experiencing "challenges" with getting new tunes to fix my issues. Should have bought locally (but didn't find out about the guys above until after I ordered my unit, always the way, huh?)

To stay on topic with my V6 automatic I get about 20-21 MPG running around with normal mixed/rural driving. On one 100 mile trip I got about 28 using cruise with very few lights/stops!

My first tank of fuel went pretty fast. New engines always burn more fuel until they have worn in. Just to settle an argument with a friend I tested my GT to see what sort of mileage I could get out of my GT for a full tank. It was very difficult to keep my foot out of it for an entire tank! I set the cruise to 70 mph and drove to another city and back. This trip included some city driving as well. Averaged 26 miles per gallon. That's US gallons. It worked out to 32 imperial miles per gallon. I converted all of this to US numbers as most people reading this are probably Americans. At any rate, I was very happy with this. These are numbers which are right in line with what Ford claims. Not that I bought my GT for it's fuel economy but I was pretty happy.

I have the GT. I've noticed some pretty exciting numbers, in the "good" way, and the "bad" way on the Computer MPG thing.

Overall, all driving, not a daily driver, aggressive in the Santa Cruz Mountains, loving to hear the engine rev and wind, and semi-attempting getting good MPG on the Hwy, I get 17 MPG. That is over many tanks of gas. I keep all records in Quicken, and every time I fill up I record both Gallons purchased and miles on the Odometer.

Check your "Gallons Used" readout. If I "zero" mine before starting up after fill up, the next time I fill up the gas pump and the "Gallons Used" numbers are really close, I'd say usually with in .2 gallons of each other consistently.

I have 2000 on mine and on day two of having it I drove from the bay area to San Diego. I avg about 25 with cruise set at 75-80. Now that I do a lot of in town I'm getting like 16 or so. Granted I do have a lead foot, but who doesn't with this car. If there are any suggestions let me know.

When I picked up my 2006 GT I drove it over 800 miles and averaged over 25mpg on the highway, now with city driving averaging probably around 19 - 21 Mpg no complaints at all Looks, Performance, and decent gas mileage what more can you ask for.

I have the V6 & get less than 200 miles per tank. I do mostly city driving, but come on the V8 is getting better mileage? I have tried driving with slow accels & decels but no difference. I can get around 275 miles/tank if all freeway driving (avg speed 80mph) I will be taking her in soon for some other complaints and will mention.

Woah--that's pretty bad mileage. I just got 200 miles on a little more than half a tank! Even with romping on it some, I'm getting 20-22. Again, that's rural driving (few stoplights).

I would definately ask them to check it out. Wonder if there is something going on with some of the V6's??? There are enough complaints of this that I'd investigate...
