In my V6 I have been getting about 18-19 mpg, my drive is a good mix of city and highway and i also drive my car really hard. i tested for a few days driving easier and was getting 20 mpg. I feel pretty happy about the results exspecially with how i drive
Are you sure someone is not sucking gas out of your tank at night when your not looking? We should all invest in locking gas caps now, but I have yet to find one for my stang. I have gotten 320 miles on a tank before, even prior to the gas light coming on.

I drive a mix of city/highway and get on the avg of 23.something MPG(around 325 miles/tank using 14.1 gallons). With the sticker stating 28MPG Highway. Theoretically, with 28 mpg and a 15 gallon tank it should come out to 420 miles.
Most modern engine designs are set for best efficiency at 55MPH which was the speed limit set in the 1970's. For every 5mph over 60 expect a decrease in MPG. See this link: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/driveHabits.shtml I've done a trip driving 55MPH in my V8 Explorer and got a significant increase in my MPG.
Anywhere between 285 and 420 is what you should be getting(Based on 19MPG City and 28MPG Highway +15Gallons). So, you should good between those numbers.
I'm also using 87 octane fuel. Using higher octane fuel increase efficiency also but I wouldn't recommend anything higher than 89 octane. 92/93 octane is a waste of $$$ if your engine isn't running the correct compression ratio for it. 89 octane will give the mileage you're looking for but at a cost. There's trade offs. If using 87 octane fuel is your choice, stay away from the cheaper gas stations.
If your getting under 15mpg in a V6 and it has several miles on it I would take it in to the dealership. Something ain't right. I get steady 27mpg in mine and I drive mix city/freeway. Hell even after a weekend at the drag strip I was still hitting 27mpg.
I don't drive a lot of city miles, mostly highway, but am getting pretty good milage. Ranges from 25-28. Have noticed that cheaper gas gets worse economy, around 3 MPG. Using just regular 87 octane and shell has actually been the best so far in performance. Also have noticed that driving around 65, at the speed limit, instead of 5 over gets about 1-2 MPG better. Same for interstate 70 instead of 78. Took a trip a few weekends ago 400 miles one way, bucked a very hard side wind and pulled some large hills, averaged 25.5. Would like to try some premium to see what that does. One thing for sure, cheaper gas cuts your economy about 10%! Do the math, gas 10 cents more a gallon still saves you about 18-20 cents.
