I had a 1987 GT and the mechanic told me that the 5.0HO was 216hp. I was also told that the 4.6 was 265hp in the GT.

Should do better than that. A 5.0 will run about a 14.9 to 15.2. Your 4.6 has quite a bit more power than the 5.0.

Since when do early 4.6's have more power than a 5.0 ?!?! LOL

They have MAYBE the same peak power, but less torque and way less low end.

Regardless, the car in question here should run in the high 14's with the gears and H pipe.

a) The 4.6 being referred to is the early non-PI 4.6 ('96-98'), rated at 215-225 HP

b) The 5.0 is rated at a conservative 225 HP, but also has a much better power band than the 4.6

Simply put... same car everything except 5.0 vs non-PI 4.6 the 5.0 wins 10 times of out 10.
