Default Whats wrong....wont start??

My friends 98' Cobra wont start he told me. He says when he tries to start it, it wont turn over.....it'll just make a "click click click" noise. He tries to jump it and it still wont start so anyone have any ideas? I think it is the starter or maybe combo of bad battery/alternator.

Sounds like low battery, bad connection. Make sure when jumping it that everything is tight, and you wait a few minutes for the battery to charge...

sounds like the solenoid is clicking but there isn't enough power to turn the starter.

As you have already heard it IS the battery, MikeHawke told you exactly what is happening.

This happened to my truck it is a bad battery. Replace it and he'll be back running. Batteries only last about 3-4 years.

So which is it the solenoid or battery? Or both?

well it could be "both" if the wires have corrosion on them..

Even a car with NO battery at all should still jump start especially if the "jumper car" is running...
