After being without my baby for 7 months I need to show her a little love. I detailed her today but she has a little oxidation on her hood and roof. I have polished and waxed her a few times before using varioustypes of wax. But does anyone have a certain favorite? I would like some suggestions.. Thanks!

Mothers cleaner/wax, works great. A lot of people like Zaino, but it's exspensive, I am going to try it this summer.

Yeah use mothers but use a buffer to get that oxidation off.But be careful you can put burn marks and swirls if you dont pay attention or get careless.I have heard of zaino but not used it so i have no info on it but mothers is good s**t.</P>

I find Mothers pure Carnubia (if thats how you spell it). That works great for me.

I use Maguires.... Its like a yellow wax, it leaves a thin coat and easy to use.... Plus it stays on forever and makes future dirt grime spray right off..... Im not too sure on who makes it (too lazy to go out to garage) lol but its a wax as you dry stuff in a red bottle.. That stuff is really cool too makes my ride sparkle :)

Umm......you need to do more than just wax.

Clean, polish (THAT'S WHERE THE DAMNED SHINE COMES FROM!!!), then wax to seal it and protect it.

Dual Action buffers kick ass.

Yeah or just sand all that clear off and lay another coat of color on and clear again lol then it would bring the sparkle back to life

Use Zaino, it works wonders on the car, and then wipe it off with a micro-fiber towel.

Meguiars 3 step wax is better than Zaino. The guys over at Thirdgen.org (I think 5 people were involved) did an experiment, with durability & shine and Meguiars won hands down over Zaino...

Here's what you do. The most common way, and most unknown way, to get swirl marks is in the drying process. I'll get into waxes in a minute. For an incredibly shine from wash to dry -get Mother's Reflections car wash, and a microfiber towell to dry -(waxstation.com).The towell will never streak your car, and the wash ishands down the best. A helpful hintwhen washing your drying towells,NEVER use fabric softener, thats what causes the streaksregardless of microfiber or not. Use Mother's products all they way, no need to go fancy 3M or FinessitII or whatever, Mother's works great. Most people don't know the proper way to wax, and everybody listen up, here's what it is:</P>


1st step - Clean the paint - use Mothers cleaner wax</P>


2nd step - seal and glaze - Use Mothers sealer/glaze for a deep shine (2 coats)</P>


3rd step - Finish the paint - Use Mothers carnuba finishing wax </P>


You can also go and buy an orbital polisher to help out. No need to be careful, you can leave an orbital polisher on your car for two days and nothing will happen, it just doesnt turn at a high enough RPM. You need to wax the car 4 times a year, and clean the paint only once each january with the orbital, otherwise just use sealer and finishing by hand. If you wax the car well, you'll remove the swirls. In between waxes, wash the car regularily as needed, and every 4 times, sray on Mothers Showtime instant detailer to keep paint looking fresh and keep wax on paint, then wipe off with microfiber towells. Let me tell you that microfiber towells do wonders compared to the regular thing: one usually will dry the whole car, but you can buy two to have enough. You will really be impressed if you wax your car the right way.</P>


Honestly, Ive tried Zaino, Meguiars, Nu Finish, and others - on various cars. An Ive never seen a shine better than the one I got with Mothers. Just to be sure - last summer I used it on all the cars we own, to see if it reacted differently to different makes' paint. And it still shined like none of the others did. They should really be paying me to do this, this damn thingtook forever.</P>

What's nice about the polish, you can create layers, whereas with regular wax you can't.

Clay won't take out the scratches.

Try meguiar's Scratch X or their #9 polish....in that order. The first picture is a Lincoln Towncar I detailed. See that scratch? That was one of the small ones, I got out some stuff that I thought would need a light wet-sanding with a DA buffer and this stuff.

That's the reason that I can't leave California.. any direction you drive its beautiful. Curvy canyon roads that lead out to wide ocean.. straight flat fields.. Its just beautiful.
