It's the performer RPM I ordered. I don't remember the details of the carb, it's an edelbrock and a good one. The guy at the shop told me that it was fairly easy to install and finetune.
Maybe this will solve my hard-starting problem as well
Yeah, that old 2100 you had was a shambles with missing parts, etc. Plus, it was just pure worn out. You and your Mustang will be much happier with the new carb and intake.
Um, you might want to set the points and dwell up BEFORE you set the timing. Adjustments to the points change timing, that's why you set the points up first. Just a suggestion. If the idle adjustment screw isn't touching anything, the carburetor is probably on the high idle cam of the choke assembly causing the fast idle. You should loosen the choke coil and turn it counter clockwise to get it to come off the high idle cam. Then adjust the idle speed and mixture. The last step is adjusting the choke when the motor is COLD.
Oops, my bad. Jerry is correct. I just got bitch slapped by one of my Mustang buddies. Here is what he had to say. >>>>>>You should set the point gap first, if you have, find, borrow, or buy a dwell meter that is even better. Any change in the point gap will make a change in the timing. Changing the timing however does not change the point gap or point dwell.<<<<<

Here's what I'm gonna do:
1) wait for my parts to arrive 2) install the new carb and intake manifold 3) start the engine again and listen to what it sounds like 4) if required, adjust the timing
Sounds ok right ?
Guys thanks for the advise, Soaring you in particular.
No worries, Glen. As my sons tell me, it's all good.
Everyting we do in our lives has to be learned and re-leaned. Small stuff like this is just one of those re-leaned things. I learned that years ago, but forgot. Stuff happens, doesn't it ? Especially when you get old.
I don't know that I have given you any information you coud not get off the internet, but if I did, then you are welcome. We old guys have to stick together to keep our babies running. Ocassionaly I screw up and make erred statements. For that, I apologize.

True, I could have found it on the internet. But still you guys are here for us mustang-newbies. To cut this short. I just want to say thanks to you guys for listening to our problems, and pushing us in the right direction. Your input is always appreciated with a lot of gratitude. Especially because we dont have many mustang experts in Europe.
i have a similar problem with flooding, i took the air horn off and the tab seems to be alright, it's not touching the sides and it goes up and down easily, but i noticed that the needle is all the way in, is this what's causing it and how do i go about fixing it?
