Default PLEASE HELP, There is so much

Alright as some of you know I got my car back finnaly a few days ago. It does not run correctly and I would like for any help at all to try and find out what exactly is wrong. I bought the distributor and ignition from a place called total performance over in detroit. Ford racing told me to go with the guy. He had rounded up all the remaining motorcraft ignition kits for the 5.0 and I was told it would be best for my car. "before I was gunna go with a really nice MSD system but was told to do this. It has been a nightmare. The thing looked used when It came to my house, and it does not put out enough spark. We thought it might have been the fireing order but both ways were tried and that was not the problem. Also the spark plugs are black as night and I was told by someone on here it might be because of the B-303 cam. Why would this be ? Please help

(1) the ignition/distributor does not put out even as much spark as my old one in it.

(2) spark plugs are black, is it because of B cam ?

I am not really sure. It is the exact same set up lookin for an EFI 5.0 I cant be sure. It was running fine but then the idle got stuck up high which was the reason I brought it back in. After that it seemed all hell broke loose. And it was running rich also so mabye that was hopefully the problem but what do you all think still ? I heard that it could be that the B cam is for EFI computer controlled cars only and its really bothering me now.

Return the product sighting that it was sold as new but shipped used....that's illegal right there Should let you get all your money back no questions

Then get yourself proven spark....MSD.

Sorry to hear that but let this be a lesson to all of you about it being a GREAT idea and a great learning experience to work on your own car!

From the sounds of it you have one or all of the above happening. The first and easiest thing to check is the timing. Then i would move on down the line.Troubleshooting is a pain in the ass!

Make sure you arent taking it to the same guy for an opinion or diagnosis because from the sounds of it he is going to nickel and dime you to death.

And you need a distributor for a carbed setup according to your setup.I dont think thats the problem with your distributor.I think it sounds like the pickup is going out.My duraspark two setup did that before i replaced it with a new distributor and the works.Check your coil as well to make sure its putting out its to its fullest.

By the way a DURASPARK 2 setup with a specificly recurved distributor for your setup would be plenty of ignition and be very reliable.Im using a duraspark distributor and ignition module for the time and have so for 2 years now and its flawless and never fouled a plug.

This spring though im using the MSD box and my duraspark distributor.Theyre very solid and reliable. What exactly was so special about this guys setups?Anybody and their momma can recurve and setup a distributor for a specific tune or curve. It only costs about 2.00 bucks and an afternoon to do it.

Heres a good link http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ng/index.shtml

Heres the one i used and it doesnt get much easier http://www.reincarnation-automotive.com/Duraspark_distributor_recurve_instructions_index.h tml
