Default Shaker 500 freezing

I have an 06 GT Premium with the shaker 500 system, and yesterday when i tried to turn it on, it came on and I pushed the CD button, and when I did, it froze. I tried to turn it off, nothing happened. I tried to eject the CD, nothing happened. I tried to turn it to radio, nothing happened. So I pulled over and turned the car off, go out, closed the door, and the clock stayed on on the radio(I believe it goes off when you get out and close the door, but i could be wrong on that). I got back in and keept going where I was going, and about 5 mins later the radio came back on suddenly and has worked right ever since. I will say I did have a burned CD in there, but it had played that CD before with no probs. Anyone ever heard of this before or have an explanation or fix for it?

Yeah, it happened to me too the other day when I was trying to play one of by cd's I burned. the whole thing shut down for a minute but then reset itself. The shaker head units suck as a whole when it comes to reliability, there's been alot of talk around regarding that. But like yours, mine hasn't really done it since but occasionally i'll get a "bad CD" message when it can't read the disc but then when i reload it, it magically can read it then. I've been looking a t head units but you can't really find an aftermarket head unit with a cd changer built in, even the double din units.

So there are no fixes for this? Not even a new headunit? Btw drbobvs, do you have a 50 or 1000?

i have the 500. It hasn't happened a gain but what do you think the ford dealer will say..."Uh, we checked the radio, its playing fine....Duuuuhhhhh" so I'll just forget it until it starts ro recur more often. my car will be in storage this winter anyway so i only have a coulple of months left this yr.

I know what you mean dr. Dealers are worthless. Mine hasnt frozen since either, but it skips a LOT, even on pristine non dubbed cd's. Its really annoying. And Im not gonna store mine, its a year round driver, but I guess ill have to wait till it gets worse too.

I have the 2005 shaker 500 and it skips . Interesting that Ford still hasn't rectified the problem. I'm thinking about going back to
Ford and getting my third shaker radio.

FWIW,
I heard all of the Skipper 500 horror stories, so I finally tried out mine today. No skipping at all here, even over pretty rough roads, so I was pleasantly surprised. My build date was in early August, so maybe Ford fixed the problem?
