Default i think i have a problem

hey guys. i have a automatic tranny. now, whenever i start to back up i get this bang noise, it only happens once then doesnt do it again until i go forward and then backup again. do u think its my tranny or rear end??? the rear end is basically brand new. i dook a posi rear from a 2002 gt with like 10 miles on it and was wrecked in the front. i took it appart and it was fine.this noise almost sounds like my rear is skipping a tooth...what do i do????

First, check your U-joints. There should be no movement at all. If they're ok, take the dif apart again and reinspect the gear teeth. That's where I'd start. Checking the U-joints is simple and quick.

I don't think it would be the tranny. If it was the tranny I would think it would making that noise when you change into the gears like when it catches.

I think its the tranny, if the rear is out of an almost brand new GT that was wrecked in the front it should be fine, is it a loud bang or does it just shift really loud and hard?

no it only happens when i out in in reverse.it doesnt make the noise until i give it some gas. if i dont give it gas and just let it roll on its own it doesnt make any noise.
