I can't say for sure, but I have seen them held on by plastic clips. and the clips are held on by these metal nubs. On my friends Grand Am, we had to cut the nubs off, and grind themn flat before we painted the car. Maybe someone here with more body experience can help ya. Good luck!

i have an 01 v-6 and wanted to remove the things too.. so i asked HotRods_n_Booze to help me... this is what he said:

Quote:
It's actually pretty easy to remove. It works best after the car has been sitting in the sun for a while to soften up the glue. Just pull the ding molding off, then use goo gone to remove the glue left behind. After all the glue residue is gone, rewax your doors because goo gone removes wax.

One thing to remember: If your car was ever repainted, they don't remove the ding molding before painting, they just tape it off. So when you start pulling it off, only do about a couple inches first and look to be sure you don't see an edge of new paint over old. If you do, don't take them off, but if you know the car has never been painted, then your fine. Good luck
