Hello, I am Bullitt.  I'm from the wonderful state of North Carolina.  I do not own a Mustang, however, if I could it would be a '68 GT 390, a '67 Ford-Shelby GT-500 (yes, Eleanor), or a '68 GT 302.

There never was a SHELBY GT 500.

The SHELBY is a convertable roadster witha 427 under the hood of a light ass frame.

The GT500 is a 'stang with a big block under the hood (can't recall if it's a 427 or 428 off hand).

BIG DIFFERENCE.....and It's one of my pet peeves

I beg to differ.  Actually, Ford and Shelby came together to build the GT-500.  (Yes, is was a 428 c.i. V-8.)  Just as Ford and (I believe) Toyota came together to make the Ford Probe.

I think there also was the GT 500 KR model with the 428 interceptor.I think the KR stood for something like king of the road.

Correct. Ford and Shelby got together to make somthing that would dominate Trans Am. That is when they made the GT-350 (small block). The 500 was the one that got the big block.

For some reason I really like the looks of the '69 Shelby.converted37771.6331134259

Although Carrol Chelby and Ford came together to make it, it WAS NOT called the Shelby GT500.

The 350 was made for handling.

In response to Jeep's Comment : that there never was a 67 Shelby GT 500...he is wrong.   Jeep I believe when you say it was a roadster you are talking about a SHELBY Cobra.   There was in fact a Shelby GT 500 made.  Carroll Shelby started the Shelby GT's in 65 with the 350 and then in 67 he made the GT500 with a 428 V8.

I think he is thinking of the AC Cobra with the 427 side oiler.
