Default #$%& MAC Headers!!!

I've been diagnosing a poor idle problem lately, and just figured out what the problem was. My MAC equal length shorty headers have burnt there way through the plug boot of the 3rd piston back on the passenger side, and now the plug wire is arcing onto the header tube. The clearance from the header to the plug on that cylinder looks as if there is no way to fit a plug wire in there without touching!!

To make matters worse, theres also a header tube touching an A/C line, which has already deteriorated it to the point where it will need replacing. BBK unequal shorties, here I come!

You might need to change the angle of the boot on the plug wires and re route that AC line, these are common problems when putting headers on any car no matter what brand they are.

hey man, whats up, i had the same problem w/ my mac headers..if you have a speed shop around your going to need to get a set of Taylor wires...they specifically make a rrrreal small boot and a 90 degree angle to prevent the boot from getting burnt up and misfiring

its what i did and have plenty clearence since

They also make a sock that goes over your plug so it doesnt't get burned. I have seen them at Advance Automotive. I needed 2 on my plugs when I put my MAC headers on. I don't know the quality of the ones at Advance I got mine at a Local Speed Shop

They were on the car when I bought it. I personnaly don't buy MAC stuff either. They're not even chrome, just painted. So as you can imagine they're covered in rust and look crap. I'm just gonna swap em out with some BBK unequal ceramics so it looks nicer and I have more room in there. I've had BBK's on another car with no probs. To me it's not worth the extra 2 or 3 hp to deal with the hassle of equal lengths. If anyone wants some rusty POS MAC headers let me know, LOL!

Yeah I got a pair of MAC headers those Piece of Sh!t headers were a pain in the ass, they came warped and didnt line up correctly I always had a leak. To fix it I had to head up the tube with a damn torch and tighting them down to a spare head I had.
