I think the chrysler situation is different.  Diamler/Chrysler can call that a merger, but in hindsight it looks more like a takeover.  The engines however are different.  It makes sense to me not to design a different platform for every midsize car you make worldwide.

if its fast and overseas (in most cases) it's expensive.  few exceptions...STI and EVO are relatively cheap, as is the WRX

If they start all that BS then i wont ever buy any new car, ever...ill just go for old american muscle like the 1969 Boss 429, which is my favorite car...But anyways, thats gonna really upset a lot of people if they do that, and hopefully, they wont. Thats takin the American feel out of the cars and defeats the purpose of buying one imo.

HI guys. i see here that are a lot of desapoiment about the new mustang. yes the changes are very diferent from the concept to the production car. 1 is the concept is wider and the windshield is chopped out. I'm a profesioanal independent Car designer with my own design studio. well right now i have the design ready and the production for a body kit for the 94-03 mustangs is on it's way. i think my design you guys are going to love it. this new body kit is not just the front bumper is almost the whole car. my design is based more in retro of the 60's shellby mustang but wider almost to the same dimentions of the GTS viper. it will also included lots of chrome on it.. in 2 days i will post a picture of the mustang kit desing ( SSS- ACR- MUSTANG) if you any of you sound interested please let me know what you think and if you will be interested on one whole converstion for your mustang. this might be also a very limited edition of it.. THANKS AND GREAT TO BE HERE..

i think ford knows better than to do that.  they would loose a LOT of popularity among their loyalists.  sounds like a sh*tty plan to me.

well if the new 500m is going to be like an S80 then that means its going to have an inline-5 and well i doubt that it does have an inline-5 :P the only manufactuer in the world i think that ever makes is volvo, and well their cars are good (my mom has an 850glt and thinking of swaping it for an s60) but they arent power machines unless ur talking about s60r.

As for all these claims the cars are turning into foreign cars with domestic badges, who cares. if the foreign european companies can help take the original engine layouts and find ways to imrpove itself then thats good. But the heart of american cars will be the same.

I actually think mazda is becoming more like ford in their new line up series but thats just my opinion and not based on fact. but whatever, the guy just wanted to diss american cars which i think is unfair. Each car manufacturer has their strengths and their weaknesses but none is the end all and be all of the automotive world. mehp

Doesn't Ford own a part of Mazda anyway?
one question, how is a mazda rx8 like a ford.  do you have a rotary in your stang?
Wait... it doesn't have anything to do with Ford.

Who said that?

Ford used chassi's in conjunction with Mazda

Escort=Protege

Focus=Mazda 3 (as Jug said)

Just like Chevy and Pontiac, Ford and Lincoln, etc. same difference, only Ford only owns part of Mazda, while Lincoln, Mercury and Jaguar are owned completely by Ford.
