I was going down Feather road (kinda curvy and only one lane on each side) and i look up and this guy in what looked to be a '69 Mach1 was flying up on my rear. He got right on my bumber and then let off and drifted back about 5-6 cars and then punched it again. As he got w/in about 2 cars of me i hit 2nd doing about 45 and started to walk. His cars sounded pretty Beastly but i walked him. We got to the end of Feather Rd. and pulled into the shell station and i comlimented his VERY VERY clean '69 and he complimented mine as well. He was bone stock and had just finished restoring the body. IT WAS VERY NICE!!!

even if the old Mach 1's are slower than a 03-04,, i'd take a 69-72 in pristine condition with any motor over the new ones ANY day ..

but damn, that must have been fun to just mess with a old car like that

i wish my dad would race me in his 72 some time, but i dont think me launching in 3rd would help him enough

i thought they were faster, my dad had a 69' mach, and he pulled a 12.9 stock with aftermarket tires.

My grandpa has a 1970 mach 1 with a 351 cleveland. Its one bad ass car, but after 70 id say they got pretty ugly.

can you put those old cars through so much stress by launching fast?

Mach1's could have 302's stock as far as i know, im pretty sure they werent fast.

but a 428 with the drag pack is a different story

and for your information, they didnt get ugly till 73

My dad's friend has a '69 mach with a 351W engine and I beat it with my 02' GT. He beat me off the line but I quickly caught up to him, it was a close race but I had him by about 4 or 5 car lengths by the end. On the other hand, my dad has a '69 Mach with a 428CJ engine and I think that it would give me some problems, like making me think I was going in reverse haha. I have never raced it and have only driven it under the watchful eye of my dad who likes to baby it.
It was a great experience of old v.s. new mustang, gotta love the classics.

Why didn't you ask what he was running? If it was anything less than a 351 you should have had no problem beating him bad. If it was the mighty 428, I would have wanted to know I beat a legendary beast.
