How's this sound?

Hey guys, I'm not new to mustangs but am new to sound systems. I've already got the 6 disk CD changer in the GT and I'd like to keep that, as well as my stock speakers. If this poses a problem, please let me know.

What I'm moving towards is dual 10" subs and an amp. I'd like to stick to alpine stuff, simply because I like how there stuff looks, and I've heard good things. Tell me what you think:

Here are my questions: Will one amp be ok to run two subs? What else will I need for the installation besides what I listed above? Where can I find one of those trasparent enclosures...I think those are cool...? And is an equalizer necessary for me?

with alipne, your paying extra for their name, but can get better sound somewhere for less.

one 4x amp for 2 subs is okay, you will probably want to go with 10's though. the stock speakers are crap. i would reccomend a component of some sort in the front and rear. for this you will need another amp. consider making a custom box, you will also need xovers and caps. do it right and you will be happy for a long time. here are a couple of pics of my system. pm me for details.

Wow that looks real custom badass4.6, real nice! However, I don't have that kind of money right now, but if I have to do it right, I'd rather save the money to do it later. I just really like the stock 6 disk CD changer right in front of me rather than putting in in the trunk which is what I'd have to do if I got a new head unit.

This is all kind of hard for me because I don't know much about stereos but at the same time, I'd hate to take my car to a ghetto stereo shop around here.

You can add your subs and not have to change anything else about your stereo system. I've seen many guys on this forum do it so it can be done. All your parts look good as long as the speakers will fit in the slots already made in the box and if the box will fit securly in your trunk. Measure the diminsions of your trunk to make sure. If it doesn't or you don't think it will i would either look into making one yourself or find one that better fits it. You will also need the right cables to connect your speakers to your amp and xovers and caps as badass4.6 stated to connect your amp and speakers to the rest of your stereo system. If you know of a Moblie One or place like it in your area that does installations at a resonable price then i would have them install it, as long as it isn't a ghetto shop. I know Mobile One advertises installations for 1 dollar. If you do go to a store like that try and both buy the stuff you want from them and have them install it. Just don't let the salesman try and sell you something you don't want

About Alpine
They're a good company and if YOU like the way those speakers sound then you should get them. As they say, "You get what you pay for"; so if its a well known name and the price tag is resonable then you should get a good product. Sound is all relative. So if the speaker sounds relativly good to you then you should get it. However, I am one too shop around

If you want cheap and want to keep it stock you can go a few different ways, you can get a line level converter for less than 20$ makes your Head Unit speaker wires into RCA Jacksand you can still leave them T tapped to feed the speakers. Get a small subwoofer/s and a Nice amp and walla. Or you can get an Amp with a high level input and do kinda the same.Lastly you could get a powered sub. Personally i would go with the first suggestion, because it gives a little more room for future growth and most likely better quality equipment.

where do you guys tap your line out converter to? rear or front? left or right? do you do something to get a "mono" bass channel? or do you just connect the line out to one of the speakers and assume that the bass signal will be sent to both left and right channels all the time?
