very true about the hp is part of the torque equation, to raise torque u gotta raise the horse power. haveing a big motor helps too. a v6 family car can have 260 hp, a v8 mustang can have 260, having the v8 u get alot mroe torque STOMPING THE SH*IT OUT OF THEM N A RACE

LOL.....either way torque is your friend, but horsepower is your dad.it all depends on what you want,my car is setup for an opened road course ,i get my but kicked till about halfway down the 1/4 cause i have 3.08s and not alot of torque, but as soon as the motor starts to rev it screws.its all in the prefferance of the owner.

well jeez, the point i was trying to make is that while the semi has less horsepower, its torque is what makes it the more powerful engine. so torque, not necessarily horsepower, measures what a motor can do.

its all about torque....you have to have motion to have horsepower...torque is always there, even with no movement....torque is the "twisting" force on an object.....you cannot have horsepower without torque ...

yes Dan, 1 horsepower is the amount of power it takes to move 33,000 lbs. 1 foot in 1 minute.... so the more horsepower, the faster you can move a heavier load... but you cant have horsepower without torque...and I agree with you on how to raise torque...by simple modding
