My buddy keeps insisting that there is going to be a 06' Cobra and that Ford is bring back the 5.0. Anyone else heard of this or is he just stoned? Also he said he saw a 06' GT66 at a dealership that has a 5.4 in it. It is supposed to looks just like a 66 GT. I told him it is probable some type of dealer add-on.

Ford will never bring back the 5.0. Thats 80's technology. Only GM is still running off that. LOL The new '07 Cobra will be a DOHC 5.4L V8 with a roots blower sitting on top.

That is pretty much what I thought and tried to tell him. (going by everything I have read in mags. and online). But he keeps telling me that some guy he works with told him this or that. He seen one of those dealer ad-on cars at a dealership and says it the new Boss Mustang. Supposedly has the 5.4 in it.

hahahaha no, the cammer doesnt count. i would never buy one unless i had enough money to whipe my ass with 1000$ bills, but i think a nice turbo 302 would be awesome in a cobra, i know it will never happen.. just would kick ass

The cobra's aren't coming out till 2007 but they will probally be released in 2006. And it is a roots type blower, not a twin screw, ford got rid of that idea.

I lost some respect for Ford after they decided to go with a roots blower vs. a screw.

What are the major differences between the roots and a screw type blower? What does the 03/04 Cobra have?

The 03-4 cobras have a roots blower. The difference in the two is the compressor/impellor design. Screw blowers tend to build less heat at higher rpm. Screw blowers tend to have a much fatter powerband and produce boost more efficiently. At this point in today's technology, the screw is absolutly killing the roots, performance wise. The only reason Ford is going with the roots unit is to save $. They originally said they were going to switch to a roots because of the avalibility of the Lysholm internals. I'm not buying it, after doing a little research. The price of the new GT500 seems to be going up monthly, and I think Ford realized they could save $ by going the roots method. I have lost some respect for Ford.

I would rather pay more for a better car. And trust me price will not stop any of these future owners.
