your stereo doesn't need a second battery, you need a higher output alternator to truly take care of any voltage drops its getting. but in reality you can get away with just changing out your stock battery for a yellow top optima deep cycle. your stereo should only be draining your battery if you play the music loud while the engine isn't running

then you have some electrical system issues-what you start with is a deep cycle battery as mentioned and a big 3 wiring upgrade. you can go to www.caraudio.com and search for big three and you can find a walkthrough on how to do it yourself. The best fix tho is to upgrade your alternator to a higher output one. a second battery will end up adding more of a strain to an already struggling elec. system because then your poor alternator has to charge 2 batteries instead of 1.

People tend to overlook capacitors. Get a 1 microfarad cap and you should have plenty of charge to keep from draining your battery.

my alternator is in practically great shape. I tested the battery reading before and after and its in great shape. reading exactly whats it suppose to be.

if your getting enough voltage drops to dim all your lights---your well on your way to killing your alt and battery. trust me--i've been doing this for about 16 years nows. if you want the real proof -- measure your voltage while your bass is hitting. a cap may help slightly but is no help at all to a well overstressed electrical system.
