In my area I love to cruise/ race many cars. I will race just about anything from a four banger to a vette. I am finding the limits of my car and have surprised myself more than a few times. The car I have came half modded and had a bottle of giggle gas in the trunk. It is not hooked up at the moment but it is real funny that I have noticed something. NOBODY wants to race me as soon as they know I have a bottle. That bottle just sitting in the trunk has won so many races for me that it amazes me. JD- I know you told me way back to hook it up and tell NOBODY and what you said is true. One person knows about the bottle and now everyone in this area knows about it. Bad move on my part.
My question is, "is juice this intimidating in your areas everyone???" It doesn't seem to matter what mods are done to the other car, they won't race unless "I dont spray on them" I guess they watched the F and the F too many times because they take that to heart. If I spray on them that will demolish any other car at all. What is up w/ that??? Juice isn't the silver bullet to win races but it really has the intimidation factor in my area.

Uhhh 100s of hp in a bottle? Id say thats pretty intimadating. I can see why people dont want you to spray, unless they have equal mods or a way faster car your gonna whoop em.

A big enough shot of nitrous can take a stock LS1 f-body from 13.3 to 11.8. That is a big difference. I would race the 13.3 car, if it ran 11.8 it would be embarrasing for me.

most people around here are just like ill run you heads up on horsepower, but you gotta spot me with the juice... im gunna spray pretty much reguardless so it doesnt matter either way to me, i normally beat anything around here anyways
The last time I street raced my car, the guy made me actually disconnect the nitrous feed line from the bottle....I told him, if I kill you, you know I sprayed, if I only outrun you, then I didn't.
No one around here who streetraces runs nitrous....they all want to run motor to motor. Which makes it nice to have nitrous. Supercharged/turbo guys can't run all motor....there's a good amount of pride knowing you beat someone on motor, but still have that extra hp if you need it.
Besides, ppl think it's more impressive to make tons of hp on motor vs using some kind of power adder.
I guess it's like that line from Jaws: Martin, it's all psychological. You yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell shark, we've got a panic on our hands....
Just change "barracuda" with "blower" and "shark with "nitrous".

HAHAHHA I like the way that that sounds.....a lot. I may have to step up the hooking up of that menancing bottle in the trunk.

tommyV8, i misunderstood what you meant..i thought that you meant if you were Driving the 11.8 car....
one of the tracks back home has a big sign hanging over the entrance, and the tech area that reads "NO NITROUS"...and ive seen a few people go to great lengths to hide the bottle...a guy last year put a small fuel cell in, but if you looked under the car, it appeared to have a full size stock tank...in the gap between the wall of the stock tank, and the cell, he had a small bottle...and he had done a hell of a job of hiding it...until his girlfriend and him got in an arguement at the track and she went and told the tech inspector...
i have a kit in my possession, but im really not into it...im sure ill put it on something...i just dont know why people wouldnt put that money and effort into a lasting mod, but to each their own....you guys with nitrous are all faster than me right now, so i cant talk much...im not a "you beat me because you have nitrous"..whether you have it or not, unless specified by the rules, a win is a win...

What a BEEEEEYOOOOOOOTCH! It's easy to hide a bottle in a Camaro, it goes in the spare tire compartment and then the line runs through the car and right up to the airbox, nice and sneaky-like. You have to remove the speaker in the spare tire well to make it fit, though. A friend of mine has this and when he pops his hood he looks stock but runs low 11's. He's never gotten any crap from the tech crews because they think he's N/A.

honestly, i dont know why they do that...its the only track that ive seen that does it..perhaps they had some mishap and now their insurance company doesnt want it there? its an IHRA track...and they host some big events...i think that the faster classes like super pro and such allow it, but none of the street tire classes.
next time im there, ill get a picture of the sign...
here is the quote from their webpage: Street Legal/Sport Compact (11.50 and up) (Nitrous Prohibited) (No Electronics)
and on friday night, they have their "Street wars" which have to conform to those rules.

Wierd?? Maybe the old timers there don't like it? Or it could be that alot people who run nitrous in their street cars don't have it set up to conform to the safty rules i.e. no blowdown tube, improperly mounted bottle. Who knows, nitrous has a lot of silly myths surrounding it and unless you use it or are educated about it, people tend to belive all the myths and half truths.

i know that at PRP, the blowdown tube is the most common reason for nitrous tech failure...
my guess is that they prohibit it in the street cars because they feel that the street cars are the most likely to throw a bottle in all half assed...and then bitch about failing tech...but this is the same track that failed my car for tech because i didnt have open end lugnuts on the front...i asked him to show me that rule, and i even got the IHRA book out of the car, and he said that wasnt the set of rules that they used...so i brought to his attention that he had an IHRA tech shirt on...he told me that he would let me run that time, but not again...
so maybe it is just because their tech guys are morons and cant find their asses with both hands, so they dont want to risk any problems with bottles...

Tech guys are a funny lot. There was a guy at Union Grove for years who just a prick to everybody about everything. Hey if you fail tech you fail tech but there is no need to be an ass about it, but this dude made it so people did'nt want to even run there. The best tech I have ever seen is at Route 66 Raceway, in Joliet. They are strick but very fair and don't treat you like crap if you fail or are boarderline.
