Gmc is thinking about making a car to save buick from its verge of death, Supposly a 2008 6.0 ls2 400hp for 33,000 its in the popular hot rodding magazine.
Please tell me this is a joke! First off, the car looks like something that GM would put out (hint GTO hint). Secondly... an LS2? WTF! The whole thing that made the GN a badass car was the fact that it had one hell of a V6 in it. You mean to tell me that with all the technology in the past twenty year that they cant make a 500 hp V6 and keep the car of somewhat original origin? What BS. I perconally believe that GM is still hurting really bad from the loss of the Fbody and they are still trying to make up for it with crap like this and some Austrailian car deemed the "GTO".
To me personally that car looks foreign as hell. In this case a very good thing. Its beautiful. It looks like if a 350z, supra , vanquish mixed together. It still looks like there trying to be more upscale luxury fast instead of racer boy image like a camaro has. It definetly wouldn't replace it in anyway. I don't why they would make it as it seems the gto is already in that role.
GM can't seem to do anything right. They won't admit that the original GN got axed because it ran faster than a Vette (their PREMIER car), so they surely won't make the same mistake twice. One of the 3 cars that has beat my GT (I don't race much, but still) was a GN. I wasn't sad, the GN was a fast car stock, and could be made insanely fast with little effort. If I owned a GM, it would have to be a GN, or a 94-95 Impala SS (after that, they went to that homo digital dash, it's SO ugly). Gotta love a grandpa's car that can hit it and quit it!

I heard that they might make it but the picture I saw looked just like a GTO with Buick badges on it.
And the GTO is an australian pile with GTO badges on it. I say **** Buick they had this thing in Motor Trend "Cars to Save GM", well how bout cars to get rid of to save GM. Both Saturn and Buick should just shut down and theyre factories should be used to make other GM stuff. Nobody wants a buick. I've seen mayb 3 Reineers and theres not a Lacrosse in Sight. They could get away with keeping Buick but they need to take their designers and throw em to the curb. I mean the Buick Lacrosse.... can you say taurus?? And vettes are also way overpriced. A cobra with a bigger blower pulley would own it (DO NOT BRING THAT C6 vs. Cobra fight in here!!!). I am not surprised at all. Saturn should be killed theyre not doin GM any favors.

The digital dash in the Impala SS was 94-95. The 96 got analog gauges including a tach which the 94-95 did not have. It also got a floor shifter.

Justingt, the GTO is a nice car. Fat Nick, who is a member here, traded his '03 GT auto for an '05 M6 GTO and it is alot nicer than his Mustang. The car is not ugly it is bland but the interior more than makes up for it. The fit and finish is amazing. It drives like a Caddy. Don't bash that car until you ride in one or drive one.

I'd like to point out that in that article, if read carefully, one would figure out that Popular Hotrodding designed that car, as a "what if", and how it's the car that "could" save Buick.
However, from what I gathered from the article, GM has no plans of making such vehicle.. it's just a dream that the writers at Popular Hotrodding have; for example, in one sentence they write something along the lines of "We think the 600HP LS2 engine would work well, and put it on the Holden chassis so they can produce them in the same factory as the GTO". The "we", from what I gather, refers to Popular Hotrodding.. not GM or Buick.

I think the car looks nice and might be something used as a luxury sport type thing... but not a GN.... i agree that if they tried to redo the GN at least make it a beatsly turbo V6 that looks somewhat liek the real GN... which would be going retro.......and the GNX was even more rare being only 10 made ? but i dunno... i just think GM and Buick have some crapp designers and just plain suck with alot of thier projects....
