We are having the same convo on another thread about STI's. The concensus over there is the STI will get the Cobra out of the whole but the Cobra will reel it in and pass by top of 2nd or begining of 3rd.

whatever dirty, i'll kill an sti from start to finish. to the guy who said sti's will run w/ a cobra? i hope your not talking about 03/04 cobras. not a chance. a few tenths in the quarter doesnt mean it will run with one.

Your car isn't stock so one would hope you'd kill a stock STi from start to finish.

that was coming from .530 at the wheels would make it the fastest in the country...seeing as how MChat is running 11.70s with 435 at the crank..?

Its funny you mention that because today I just saw a vid of an srt putting down 570hp and 560ft/lbs to the wheels.
I don't really like srts anyway but I can send you the vid. I believe its hush hush though

BTW, this supposed power to weight ratio of imports is only a small part as many of the most successful imports like supras, dsms, skylines etc weigh 3200-3700 lbs. They succeed because the strength of the block matters more then # of cylinders or displacement. A small iron block high revving motor built for boost can run incredible boost numbers built. They can put down crazy amounts of boost that many N/A domestic engines (espcially the aluminum blocks) can't touch even when fully built and boosted. This allows them to stay on par w/ the larger motors by using more boost then their counterparts can manage and also why a 4 banger eclipse w/ only 2 liters ran a 7.1 on factory block and other imports are in the 6's. this "bigger is always better" generalization is retarted. Is the 3.4L found in my mom's oldsmobile have more potential then a 3.0L motor found in a supra. Its bigger, shouldn't it have a higher level of "performance potential" before its hits the "wall". No, block strength, go by the individual motor, not some guesses.

I was on my way home last sat night and a guy rolls up on me with a 6cyl BMW 330 Ci 255 HP rear wheel drive provoking me bigtime. Reving the engine and when I speed up a bit to move over a lane he speeds up and gets right next to me. It was 3:00 in the morning so there wasn't another car anywhere close.

Let me just say thank god I had my secret wepon. I couldn't live with myself if he beat me.

I will say something about the BMW's though. They do have a 438 HP 6.0 rear wheel drive in the 760 Li but that car costs 120,000 bucks. I'll beat him too and he'll have to change his shorts.

The only thing that has ever tried to race me on the street was a z06. I've pulled up beside SRT's and Evo's before and didn't hear a peep................

It seems like there are a lot of posts lately about stang owners beating up on fwd, 4 cyl. crap. I don't care if I had a stock 87 gt with 225 hp, I wouldn't feel very good about beating, say, a Neon. I guarantee you that the rice guys that troll over here love to see posts about "gt's hanging with, or barely beating 4 cyl cars". They love to read it, because it makes them feel like their car is in the same class as a V8. Think of the guy with a modded Neon, who just dumped 8k into his ride and can now hang with stock gt's. He now thinks he is in the same class as the gt. It seems like those people use the stock mustang gt as a baseline or measure for a 'fast ride', and if they can beat one, they sleep a lot better knowing all the $ they dumped into their p.o.s. was worth it. All for a car that can 'hang' tough with a STOCK gt. V8 owners shouldn't get all warm anf fuzzy after beating a fwd 4 banger, that is the feeling reserved for beating a Vette.

I'm sure that Tach or Shift light you got mounted outside your car has nothing to do with scaring them away...
