Why do V8 stang owners get so excited about beating slow 4 bangers?

It seems like there are a lot of posts lately about stang owners beating up on fwd, 4 cyl. crap. I don't care if I had a stock 87 gt with 225 hp, I wouldn't feel very good about beating, say, a Neon. I guarantee you that the rice guys that troll over here love to see posts about "gt's hanging with, or barely beating 4 cyl cars". They love to read it, because it makes them feel like their car is in the same class as a V8. Think of the guy with a modded Neon, who just dumped 8k into his ride and can now hang with stock gt's. He now thinks he is in the same class as the gt. It seems like those people use the stock mustang gt as a baseline or measure for a 'fast ride', and if they can beat one, they sleep a lot better knowing all the $ they dumped into their p.o.s. was worth it. All for a car that can 'hang' tough with a STOCK gt. V8 owners shouldn't get all warm anf fuzzy after beating a fwd 4 banger, that is the feeling reserved for beating a Vette.

I can beat a mid 80's or older vette any day with my stang! HAHA! I don't bother with 4 cyl. cars unless they are being bitches, and I wouldn't bother posting it either.

i hope that you guys, in your infinite knowledge do realize that some of the fwd 4 cylinder cars are actually fast...ive seen plenty of Evos and SRT4s with bolts on running in the 12s...(moreso the Evo)..

the biggest problem isnt so much those cars, but the driver...alot of them need to replace the "punkass 16yo girl mod" with the "good driver mod", which is why i see more evos running respectable times then SRT4s,,because less young kids are rolling around in 30+ evos than they are 19k SRT4s...

Dude that was the sadest day..... Id sell my car thats for sure!When i think of stangs I dont even think of anything out there being able to beat my Saleen and if it was a RX8 man I'd be ashamed

Sometimes these 4bangers act very cocky and they think they own the road, that is when you need to put them in their place. Yes, they are using the GT as a baseline but for how long? I mean for how long this car is going to last? I have seen older srt4 and they are in very bad shape, either their owners beat the hell out of them or the car is actually a piece of dirt.
I do not look for a race but if the opportunity is there, why not?

I'd say the EVO's are typically faster b/c not because they're more expensive, but b/c they're not FWD.

98LS1...as you may be able to tell, and I am into the whole dodge scene, and for the most part, alot of the SRT4 owners that i have met are people who are Daddy's little girl or boy, who wanted something fast, so they got daddy to agree on a neon...they read on the mopar webpage that stage 2 builds 280hp and 300tq, so they buy that, a short throw shifter and a nice loud BOV, combined with a blingy new set of wheels and a carbon fiber hood, and suddenly theyre john force...they go to the track and wonder why their car only runs 13.80s (slower than a stage 0 with a good driver) and they blame it on the temperature or the track conditions...young, inexperienced drivers (and alot of girls) buy them, and they know nothing about actually driving a performance car...so they ride around revving on 03+ cobras because, after all, a neon with a BOV and CF hood MUST be faster than a stock cobra..and they get wasted, and complain that they 'got sprayed'...or whatever their crappy excuse is...thus making a bad name for the rest of the SRT4 owners...as opposed to the evo, which along with the more useful AWD, has a 30g+ price tag, and mommy and daddy are a little hesitant to buy their little angel a 30k car over a 19k car.

most of the time, even though i have a mopar or dodge shirt on, driving a dodge product, i wont associate with the SRT4 owners because they act like any other ricer at the track...yet they "hate ricers"...but their SRT4 with a ton of cash dumped into it, with a body kit and rims, neon tubes and stereo upgrades, which run slower than stock...arent rice just because it has "domestic badging" on it??

I'm not a fan of the SRT-4's myself. But I don't think it matters how good of a driver you have in the car, the FWD is the main limiting factor. Those things can be mean from a roll though...

Luckily, I haven't ran into a cocky SRT-4 driver yet. Although, I'm looking forward to the day I do.
