what are the softest 18inch tires,,need something to hook, right now i have kumos 712s arnt wrought i flip!,have a 18x9.5 rim on 99 cobra whats the bigest tire that will go on all 4 corners? right now i have 275/35/18s. think i can go a little wider and taller.what do you think?

With sidewall flex to help the grab....there's not much to improve on unless you get smaller (hence lighter which also reduces unsprung weight, which in and of itself makes you faster) rims.
You can improve the compound though. Check out Nitto 555....or if you want SOFT try the 555R.....just don't bitch about the wear.
They're really sticky street tires, not radials, keep that in mind.
I still say it'd be smarter to invest in a pair of smaller rims and buy 2 tires for those......makes you faster and lets you hook up better.......much much better if you can get some skinnies up front.
Hotrod, they do make the 555 in the size you have currently (keep in mind that wider tires don't help out that much....it's the compound more than anything.......). Treadwear is rated at 300.
The 555R is a drag radial, treadwear is 100 and the only 2 sizes for an 18" rim is 285/335 or 305/45....however, they do make 275/40 R17's.....smaller rim, less weight, stickier tire......good dealy yo.......just get a cheapie pep boys set of 2, lol. Long as it keeps the rubber attached to the axle.
They also have the 555R2 in a 285/35 R18 size.....treadwear is 100 (this is aimed at being an autocross/road race tire). Apparently it's the newst addition and with the naming system and compound set up they have, I'd imagine that being the stickiest 555 you can get. It's a DOT radial.
