Default 2006 GT 260 HP

I note that the HP rating for the 2006 GT is listed as 260 -- not 300 HP on the Ford site. As I understand it this is the same engine but is being rated using a tighter standard. So that means the 2005 engine is actually rated at 260 not 300 also.

Sounds like it is to me also. Most people see the ratings from Ford (300HP) and don't realize that it is based on HP at the crank... not at the wheels. Assuming that the loss from the crack to the wheels can be anywhere from 15% or more, 260RWHP may be correct.

I don't know what that is about. I saw it under the vert. but that is what they usually dyno to the wheels.
