I guess you haven't read the Motor Trend from January of 04' then have you?  I guess you lose this argument too  Not to mention I guess Dave Hill, Corvette's current design chief, has not been honest with us either in telling us we could expect hp numbers to equal to current supercars, which is the 500hp range.  I don't believe it's speculation when we have substantive facts on our side.

You lost because I called you out on your Motor Trend argument and gave you a reference, just as I have in every other post.  I really can't believe I actually come here and argue with teenie boppers about this stuff.  I think I have found a great way to end our argument, and even though part of what I am about to say will never happen, as it never has, but it still holds one big truth.  Ready??? Here Goes!!! 

Who cares if a Mustang is faster in the 1/4 mile or 0-60 (part that has yet to be true for stock cars)?  The point is the Mustang is not an exotic in reality, or in style, and will never be comparable to a Vette period.  A Vette will always command more attention on the road, because people can instantly spot a Vette and know that they are a performance machine.  The only people who can spot a Cobra from a regular Mustang V6 are true enthusiasts, not your everyday person.  But a Vette, well it will always be "America's Sports Car" and people all over know that.  They resepect that. Another point to be made is that the only people who ever try and compare their car to yours is people with a lesser car.  Point and Case....Even if your Stang was faster, it's still just a Mustang, and will never be the equal of a Vette in all around Style and Performance.

SA_Cobra,

If you read the Jan. issue of Motor Trend, you'll see that the C6 will indeed have a 500 HP Z06. And like DontEvenTry had said, that will not even be the fastest Vette, there's still the 600+ HP version with the C5R engine. The base Vette will be 400 HP, taking on Mustangs and some of the imports. The Z06 will take on various European sports cars and the top dog C5R powered version will probably play with the supercars like Lambos and maybe even challenge the Enzo a bit.

We have to admit that the Mustang is not a sports car (except the Cobra R). Even if it does beat the Vette in a drag, hp for hp, it will not beat a Vette on a raetrack unless heavily modified. Vettes are not built purely for straight line speed. A Z06 could beat an NSX on a roadcourse, no stock Mustang (again, except the R) could even come close to an NSX on a track (different story on the stripe).

last year ford already beat the z06 with the svt cobra and ford only makes them faster. now all thats left is the viper soon to be taken out by the 2005 shelby cobra ford isn't stupid they will build it they proved that by building a fully working concept.605hp over 500ft.lbs.

Wow this has been a very good debate....it's by far the best four pages on this forum I've found thus far. I've found myself agreeing with you Donteventry, I have the latest issue of Autoweek and the cover story is about the C6 vette, they also mentioned the "Blue Devil" project in that story, so I knew exactly what you were talking about.

First off, try using punctuation.  Secondly, where has a stock Cobra beat a stock Z06?  I have posted a link to a Z06 with less hp than a 03 Cobra in this thread, and guess who get's literally blown away?  Well, I'll let you watch.  Next time you want to make a comment like that, have something to prove your statement with, because any person with the slightest knowledge about cars knows it's crap.

first off i have been in cobras that have taken several z06's second about the punctuation what the hell are you my teacher f*&^%'n fairy go cry to mommy.when ford listed the hp for the cobra it was a little lower than the actual number. my freind bought one drove it right off the lot to a dyno shop and made 407 hp.

and last but not least what the hell are you doing supporting chevy on a mustang forum. go back to bowtie land

How about this:  I'll go back to "bowtie land", and you go get an education.  Your numbers are meaningless without proof.  The only stock Z06 a stock 03' Cobra might have a chance with, which I still doubt will win, is a 01 Z06, which had 385 hp.  By reading what you write, I would assume you are not the sharpest tool in the shed.  Here's why!!!  How does a less hp car, that weighs 500lbs more than a Z06, beat a Z06 that has 15 more hp?  If this car can really beat it, then how come the video I posted with a 25hp less Z06 absolutely smoke a 03' Cobra?  I may be on the wrong site for my car (yes I drive a modified C5 Vette), but atleast my posts have validity, make sense, and are proven.  I don't know why I even bother discussing this with you.  I would assume you are some little teenie bopper who most likely drives a Mustang Gt, the slow man's V8.  As said before, get an education before posting again, as you are making us all much dumber.

You call it trolling while I call it an education in facts.  I only post when I see people distorting information, which is quite often, hence my comments in this thread.  In fact, I do remember a conversation you and I had in another thread about a stock 03 Cobra vs. a stock Corvette (no Z06).  It was about a guy who was about to get a brand new Cobra, and his brother had a 99 hardtop Vette.  I remember you saying the Vette would have no chance.  Well did you ever get the opportunity to read the outcome of that race?  If not, you should take a look.
