no not at all, you can go to walmart and buy one to for 20 bucks to, but i dont thinks its 4guage.

Jimmz -> RE: to good to be true (8/23/2005 3:54:51 PM)

Its not too good to be true its just wire but its CHEAP wire. The wire takes on a big part cuz it makes the amp. I got fosgate wiring and my setup sounds great! Heres my new setup

lol--don't believe the hype----4ga wire is 4ga wire. now i will atest that some companies use false claims and use a thicker coating and less wire inside but audiopipe is decent stuff. i would not hesitate to use it---but you can get 4ga kits at wally world for about $20

Kidrosey -> RE: to good to be true (8/26/2005 8:59:29 PM)

Yeah don't buy into the hype - copper is copper (make sure its oxygen free though) - and make sure the guage is big enough and that the jacket can withstand the current.

racerx3165 -> RE: to good to be true (9/8/2005 7:41:41 PM)

Not all 4 awg is the same there are hundreds of different types of insulation and different strands, like i would not reccomend going to home depot and getting #4 solid THHN and using that for your car. I would always prefer the more strands like anaconda cable. But #4 is #4 when it comes to amperage it can carry. :)

as far as stranded wiring goes, like the examples given above, 4ga is 4ga, not sense buying 100 dollar amp kits (which there really is) when $20 will get you the same thing. my wording was off.

pj1010 -> RE: to good to be true (9/19/2005 6:49:37 PM)

Disagree - read more audio literature. 20 dollars shouldn't even cover decent RCA cables....

i've been installing car audio for more than 16 years, i believe my experiences rather than propaganda. any set of shielded rca's will suffice.

pj1010 -> RE: to good to be true (9/19/2005 8:46:37 PM)

Operative term - "suffice". All offense aside, that has GOT to be one of the most ignorant statements I've heard.

tcuallstar -> RE: to good to be true (9/19/2005 10:01:43 PM)

search 4 AWG on ebay and see how many cheeeap kits come up, there everywhere

seight311 -> RE: to good to be true (9/22/2005 8:00:21 PM)

No way guys, I've been in car audio for 4 years, I can personally tell you that all wiring is not created equal. Saying all 4ga is the same is like saying al V8's are the same. You've got electronic sheilding, you've got wire flex, ie Monster cable maintains a perfect 75 ohms throughout the entire cable, creating the best sound reproduction possible. Sure maybe you never could tell the difference in wiring. You've been around 16 years in car audio. Times change dude, Cerwin and Rockford you look at them 5-10 years ago they were on top of their game, they are both obsolete now. Same with all the wiring you dealt with back then too. If you want good quality all around wiring kit, go Stinger. Most strands per ga. size. No offense to the guy with the Rockford wiring, But I used to work at Best Buy right and got all my Rockford wiring dirt cheap. great deal huh, no I went to where I work now and paid retail for Monster and I would never go back to Rockford. Sure it works fine, with Pioneer, Sony, Rockford, Kenwood product if you can definatly use Rockford wiring and be happy with the quality it delivers. You system is only as good as your weakest link. Look would you drive a ferrari and put oil in it from Dollar General, no way. Your system is only as good as your weakest link...

bonesninja -> RE: to good to be true (9/23/2005 11:18:15 AM)

lmao--you guys really need to get real. if this guy was setting up a acompetition SQ car-(which i own by the way) then i would recommend the high quality stuff but since 99.9% of ppl who have systems are not into sq comps, then wally world shielded rca's are more than adequete. and the stuff i used "back then" hasn't changed dramatically in a long time. i don't dwell in the past, i'm a huge fan of technology and i always stay up on the cutting edge of things--thanx for reading.

So now there is a difference in wiring huh?

bonesninja -> RE: to good to be true (9/23/2005 3:55:49 PM)

4ga wire has nothing to do with rca's. thanx again.

seight311 -> RE: to good to be true (9/23/2005 5:23:28 PM)

Were not talking just about 4 ga or just RCA's. Were talking about a complete wiring kit. So what your telling me is that I can go to an auto parts store and buy 10 ft. of 4 ga. wiring, the stuff you can use to run a relocation kit. And it will perform exactly as well as say Stinger 4 ga. Or that a pair of RCA's you'll get when you buy a DVD player from Wal-Mart is equal quality to 100% foil sheilded, time corrected, gold plated connectors, dual balanced conductors Monster RCA's. Because those junk RCA's you say are equal quality, they are made of tin. Tin has slightly better conductivity than wood. And 4 ga does have something to do with RCA's they should be an equal quality to all of the wiring you use in your car stereo. It'd be like driving around with 1 bald tire, you won't notice driving straight at 10 mph. When you need or want it to perform you think it's going to deliver the same traction as the rest of the tires? Sure you'll have 3 good tires, but what good do they do with 1 ruined. YOUR SYSTEM IS ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR WEAKEST LINK, admit it.

all this talking from you and yet still you have showed me no proof that a wally world kit will not perform as good as a $200 monster kit. hmmm weird.

seight311 -> RE: to good to be true (9/23/2005 8:12:41 PM)

How could I show you proof, you have to hear it. Even if I posted in writing that Monster cable is better than Wal-Mart Scosche junk. All you would say is that it was written by Monster and that it's a lie. And I can assume you can't show me any proof that it's anywhere near the quality of Monster, or Stinger. Can You? Nor do you even have any specs to support why it would be the same quality. Less strands in the power transfer cabling, minimal sheilding, tin conductors, no time correcting. Nothing. Hmmmm Weird.
By the way the answer to the main question in this forum is that no it's not to good to be true, but expect to get $20 performance out of the wiring kit, if you list what components your connecting with those wires too I can tell you whether you may want to look into some better quality cables.
