ORIGINAL: tripleblack The Z06 looks to be a wonderful-fast car, but not necessarily a world-beater handler . . . they have huge, heavy motors that put a lot of weight on the front tires. All the mags that drive them say the ZO6 does have twitchy handling. Note however, that it is not due to the "hugh, heavy motor," wiehgt distribution is pretty much 50/50, claimed 51/49. I moved the battery to the trunk on my vette, and even with the SC, have right on even distribution of weight front to back (when I carry a mini spare and jack), by race scales (800, 795, 795, 800#s) FL, FR, RL, RR, without driver and 1/2 tank fuel. The standard LS2 engine is quite a bit lighter than a four-cam Ford 4.6. What folks often forget is that the heads on any four-cam make for a lot of weight (and make the engine tall), four cams and all the mechansim. We weighted the 427 engine in my vette (see picture) at the shop before it went in the car, with manifolds and pumps, etc., it was 21 lbs. lighter than a compareable 4-cammer 320 HP Ford 4.6 (non-SC earlier Cobra, being repaired at the same time (had dropped a chain tensioner). The new 505 HP LS7 engine is essnetially the same block with slightly heavier heads than mine, but it probably weighs far less than a 390 HP Cobra engine - its essentially just a stroked and bored LS2 and it has no supercharger (the SC weighs about 60 lbs, i'd guess, ast the very similar onM-112 I had on my LS6 vette did. Not only that, but Lingenfelter doesn't overestimate their HP. If they claim 725 HP, then its 725/505ths as much power as the stock '06 ZO6 puts down (i.e., about 660-670 RWHP). Unlike some tuners they do not exaggerate. They also tune their cars so they are really streetable, I respect that too. I bought ALOT of parts over the past 5 years from Lingenfelter, probably $25K worth, aincluding an entire engine, basically, nd there is no aftermarket company I respect more. Note they make an 850 HP C5 and they made at least one 950 HP C5 - awesome stuff.
