Default 2 problems

My hvac controls are shot. the defroster stays on even though the switch is off. Is this is vacuum line problem im assuming? How hard are those to fix?

2nd problem. My car came missing the ash tray thingy in the console. For some reason when im driving that little area is warmer than hell. I cant figure out why. Like its really hot and im scared something is burning or something will catch on fire.
