Why not run oil analysis to see how your selection of oil is holding up?  It will tell you a hell of a lot more than some of the speculation around here does.

I don't know much about Mustangs, yet, cuz I've had mine for a month now (95 GT).  But I do know Fords.   I used the walmart special fram and super tech oil every 4000 in my last car (93 Escort) and with 200K it still runs quiet.  Only got rid of it bucause I as soon as I sat in and fired up that Mustang, I had to have it  Seems like a 5.0 would be harder on oil and need something stronger so I'm going to use K&N with Mobil 1.

I need some opinions. How soon can I remove the oil from my new Mustang and replace with Castrol synthetic. I know it used to be recomended to leave the oil in for 1500+ miles before changing to synthetic. However, all the info I find now says you do not need to wait anymore. Which is correct? Anybody?

My car just turned 2200, and I am planning on changing it before it hits 3000.

Probably going with RP and whatever filter I can find.

I decided that this was the final word in oil filters after reading this study (and others on bitog.com).

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=846034&fpart=1

After receiving my Amsoil filters today I was surprised to see them shrink-wrapped!!!  (see pic).  Now after more research I see that the Fleetguard LF16002 has the same syn media (with a different media buzzword, "stratapore"?) so I'm looking into those also.  I'd like to eventually extend my oci's out to 10-15k miles.  I plan to send my 15k-20k mile oci to blackstone/dyson and every 5k after that with the different oils/filters until I settle on something.

Fram suck, NHRA and nascar use them for sponsor money. My Friend is a master tech and has seen Fram filters cause engine damage from pressure build up
