I don`t have a rating for Motorcraft. I just bought one o/f for my first oil change 3k and 5W30 Motorcraft synthetic blend oil. I figure they will do fine.

My 97GT takes 6 quarts as well. I've got an oil change coming up and looking forward to using the best oil and filter I can.

the hasting/amsoil are great filters,also use magnetic drain plugs..

I dont know how good of idea it is on my part, but when i change my '98 GT's oil, i replace my filter with a John Deere brand filter. I bought a ton of them on a farm sale, and they are the same size, and i havnt had any problem with them.

I run ROYAL PURPLE, oil and transmission fluid, and K&N filters on everything I own.. its a little more expensive but well worth the money!!

I was watching some 2 guy's garage thing and they did a test with royal purple. Put it in the engen, trans and rear diff and picked up an extra 10 rwhp. I was suprised but have not tried it yet. I have only used motorcraft with a magnetic band around it.
I have never seen any other oil tests on a dyno that make hp like that. it was on a stock 01 GT

Glad to hear it. Fram seems to be the only "staple" oil filter out there. It's widely available from Wal*Mart to Discount/Advanced Auto. My father brought me up using Fram and I have used them as well. I alternate now between Motorcraft and Fram. I use Mobil 1 5W-30, as that is factory recommended, although I see many of you on here running 10W-30. I change the oil and filter in my '98 Cobra (6.3 quarts) every 2 months regardless of mileage. A little much, but oh well, when I look inside that valve cover, the internals are shining right back at me!

Well thats pretty good info. I buy Fram filters, always have, never blown up an engine or anything. I am not defending Fram in any way, but you make it sound like its bad that they only make little stuff. Am I not supposed to buy them because they don't make other car items.
I think people who study oil filters to pick out that out that get those extra 2 micron specks of dirt has never taken an engine apart anyways. Just change your oil and filter often.
People say they run (insert favorite kind) of oil or whatever and actually argue about it
1.) Need to get a life
2.) Get a real car that goes beyond H/C/I
3.) Quit nick-pick bench racing
