the argument of "if you want to run 6's in the 1/4, get cubes" is kind of out dated...those "ricers" are getting there (i believe they're in the low 7's?...toyota solara? rx7?) the argument now should be "if you want to get there easily"...oh yeah, and screw wrx's, over-rated. all this 300hp and such coming from most of these imports is such stressed horsepower...the thing about V8 domestics is we make it look so easy Admin38028.630625

Guess I will use this website again to give a good accurate comparison: 305 horses is all it takes from Ford to walk on a Camaro SS?? Thats a good reason for you to be impressed!! Come again!

Yeah those pre SN-95 5.0 V8s make 300 hp so easy...after about 7000 in bolt ons to up the hp from that monster stock rating of 200!
haha...my slow as hell Si makes 160 hp from an engine thats roughtly 1/3rd the size of the 5.0.
and once again you have the wrong info...they have 225 stock bud. and yes, it's quite easy to get 300hp. and nobody cares about your Si making 160 (about 130...MAYBE 140 at the wheels) with a 1/3rd of the size...my 1.8 makes about 170hp AT THE WHEELS..and i can guarantee that when it's turning 170 it's a LOT more stressed than my 5.0 would be if it was pushing 300+...about $7k to get 300hp?!!! haha, give me that and i'll be running WELL over 300...this statement alone shows how much you know about mustangs

Oh I'm sorry I was off by a whopping 25 hp in a big ass inefficient engine. whoopty do. That was STILL pathetic even for it's day, and you obviously didn't get my sarcasm about making 300 hp...
Apparently you know nothing about fwd because typical Stock Si's without any modifications made 145-148 hp to the wheels on the dyno. Wow...a 12 to 15 hp drivetrain loss! how much does your Mustang lose? 30...40 hp? I'm impressed. (not)
Yes, you're a king now...your BUILT 1.8 makes 170 at the wheels. If I had the time or money to build my 1.6 I'd have it bored to 1.9 and then turbo'd and make 240 to the wheels no problems. Or I'd get my 1.8, bore to 2.1 and then turbo'd for a clean 260+ hp figure.
Honda isn't the greatest company, I never said that, I never will. But the thing you have to realize is, neither is Ford. Stop trying to play it off as so much better than small displacement engines, which if I'm not mistaken can, have and will continue to beat out your precious V8s time and time again when done right.

my buddies stock SS ran 12.93.....walk, ehhhh?
That is very possible like I said in another thread. I raced beside an SS in a Test and Tune day at Bradenton motorsports Park and he made a 12.9?? pass as well. And the mach has also made passes of 12.8-12.9. It just so happens that MM&FF got a better time out of the mach. Can't call MM&FF a lier, thats silly

Weight is the Camaro's enemy, that and it only makes 20 more hp than the Mach I. The I makes 330 ft lbs of torque right? I think the SS makes 340. not that big of a difference really. You say the SS is pathetic, but the SS AND Z28 both destroy a GT stock for stock.
Here's what I think should happen... Ford needs to build a GT with the Mach I's hp/tq numbers, I'd be more impressed with the GT and just might go buy a brand new 40th ann. GT right now.

Yep, I would have kept my 03 gt if it were as fast as the mach. The ss is not pathetic, and yes both of those will kick a gt's ass, thats why I bought a Mach. I put around $800 in bolt ons on my Gt, and ran a 13.9 at the track.(but it was the first time I ever made a pass in front of about 400 people at a test and tune in Bradenton Florida.) I wasn't impressed, but I am impressed with a stock 305 hp rated car that makes a 13.1 pass stock. Thats Swwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

Ditto !!!! agree with this post completey, I am in the market possibly for a Mach myself...possibly SVT. I wont rake on my luck with my old GT. True words Redneck

I don't think Ford can do that due to the fact that it cost so much money to make the 4.6 fast, case in point, the Mach I and Cobra. If they make the GT that fast, then the price is gonna skyrocket and then hardly anyone will buy them.

The 2005 Gt is gonna have 300 horses, so it is happening I guess. An article I have says its quarter times are 13.9. Thats a little quicker than the current gt..

3V heads on the new stang... should be interesting..still, an ss shouldn't be compared to a stock gt. ss=mach1 ,, a 2v gt with a few minors(intake+exhaust cutouts+timing adjuster=low 13's
