I have done and still do the acetone in my car. It had no noticable effect on my MPG, however I did notice an increas in power.
As for K&N, screw that! K&N sucks big balls, if you have a K&N on your car you might as well take it out and leave it open.
This is an independant studdy on several filter brands, including K&N.
This study proves that, -K&N lets an enormous amount of dirt through -K&N has negligable increase in flow (especialy at the rates that most of our engines run) -K&N is more restictive than other brands as it gets dirty
And that in general K&N sucks. If you want a filter get an AC Delco filter, that is 150 times more effective at dirt removal than K&N, and does not require rutine mainainance.
i increased mileage by changing oil when time is due, fuel injector cleaner, headers, CAI, o/r pipe, and flows. went from 14 to 16-18 (depends how hard i drive)
The airtemp intake chip does work. You can feel it right away. Ya just have to watch which ones you buy. There is alot if junk on ebay with price ranging from 1.00 to 100.00 they are basicly just a resistor that tricks your computer into more air and timing advance. I got mine through A&A the brand escapes me now. They are a snap to put in and mine came with all wires and crimp connectors. This one dosent abandon existing ATS it wires in parrell with it which was different from most. Im sure some guys will blow holes in this chip, all I can say is the proof is in the way it accelerets compaired to before. Anyhow for 50.00 its cheap horsepower and about the same MPG.

good question. same as when all the hybrid cars, such as the prius, came out saying 72 mpg now they claim way less. they prob. test the product in optimal coditions. they prob. used a vehicle with the wind pushing at their back going down slope, with stuff like synthetic oil, lucas injection cleaner, octane booster, etc...that's my theory on it. or instead of using a car, they just put it on an engine dyno and ran it at low rpm's constantly. i was reading an article about how they were able to make such claims on the hybrids, they used only dry conditions, with winds at the car's back on down slopes, with smaller tires, and some other crap.
I have had a hard time geting them to work. I have tried an MSD 6A with my old 88 ford truck with a EFI 351 and it worked for about a week and then it seemed like the computer just rejected it. it started missing all the time and i checked every thing spark plugs heat ranges plug wires distributer cap and rotor. and when i took it off the motor started running normal again. and my freind tried it with his 91 mustang 5.0 and he had the same problem. as soon as he took it out the motor worked its way back to normal as soon as the computer basicly reset it's self. I have herd people have had good luck with them on carburated motors.
I know a guy here in town who is a plumber... well tries. He totally rapes his customers I mean if you call him, its gonna cost you a grand. I asked him one day how do you get away with charging so much for your work and the junky stuff you put in? His response was " This is a big town too big for people to ever figure it out, So I don't get alot of repeat work.. again its a big town with alot of people. Same goes for these junky add ons, how much are you gonna bitch about a $20 - $80 part? It will tick you off and you will tell everyone you know... but " ITS A BIG WORLD"

i dont get it, the stuff claims to incrrease hp, and it reduces it, how in the hell can any one get away with that crap haha.
The K&N filters had 2 different testing done, Fine Dust and Course. The Stock filters only were tested with course dust. The difference between K&N vs. Stock filters the course dust test is very slight. While the difference in air restriction seemed to be much more restricted for the stock filters. From the presentation of the data, it is unclear that the after market filters are really as bad as they are protrayed. Additionally, the benifits may outwiegh the hassle of keeping the filter nice and clean. What does everyone think?
You mean to tell me that none of you watch the Speed Channel & have not seen the Tornado commercials? they are all over the shelves at the local Pep Boys. Bob Villa vouches for them in the commercials & I believe anything that comes out of Bob's mouth.....
My real reason for posting: Anybody remember the engine oil additive brand or name that was being sold via commercials on the Speed Channnel about a year or so ago? I remember they were so confident in the stuff; they added the stuff to the engine oil, drained the oil, & then raced the vehicles around a track without any oil in them! Only reason the commercial caught my attention was that one of the featured vehicles was a 68-71 Ranchero..... You just might notice that that 1\2 hour long commercial is no longer on the air......
Wow, thanks for shedding some light on those products. It's true, I was a little curious about the Turbonator and products of the like. I always thought "how can spinning the air give so much performance gain?" Guess it was just a load they were shoving down our throats...but, I guess if a guy I worked with can sell a rock on ebay, then they can sell these "wonder" parts (no joke, I know a guy that sold a rock on ebay..just a plain rock from the parking lot)
lol...the sad thing is most people who buy "twisters" and "tornados" actually leave great feedback they actually make themselves believe they feel the hp and mpg difference...i know its not fair these sellers should be set fire to
