I installed a K&N air filter in my car today and while I was under the hood I was looking around. I wonder if my stock air box with K&N replacement filter would benefit if I could get some non-under hood air in there. I noticed a good spot to run a hose from the bottom front grill up to the original air intake. It would require no mods to the stock air box. Jusy a tube that can get air from the front of the car to the air box. Would this help in anyway, having "fresh/cold" air? I'm probably going to try it anyway, just wondering what the general opinion is.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Keep us updated of your findings.

I have been MORE then thinking about that... Purchased an aluminum tupe from Loews this sunday while shopping for some other stuff that should fit in there nicely. Now I have to find the time to goof with it.

My 69 Torino cobra GT had "Ram Air"... very simular. There was this square hole in the airdam. a pipe hooked up to that and fed a hose that connected to the air cleaner. it actually worked quite well... an unplanned benifit was a simi-cruise control.. That is to say - cruising down the highway, when I caught up with a car and entered that cars air flow, my car would slow down without letting up on the gas because air wasn't putting pressure on the intake ... to speed up all I had to do was switch lanes getting out from the vacume spot of the car in front of me and my car automaticly started going faster..

These cars are built that way. You'll find that on all sorts of vehicles, from your new 'Stang to Chevrolet and Ford pickup trucks. It's just designed to get fresher air into the engine bay. By the same token, all of our Mustangs from 99+ come with quick removal headlights on the air intake side which pulls fresh air directly into the stock airbox (for strip use).
