The release date is 2009, alot could happen both good and bad in that amount of time. The reality is that wheather you like it or not the new Camaro could be a good thing for Stang owners, it might force Ford into putting more power into the Stang.

That's what I was thinking, the domestic sports car future is looking very interesting.

Im curious to know if they are going to copy ford with going with the throwback look.
dude Ford did not, I repeat did not invent the retro look. The Prowler was really the first retro stlyed car, along with the PT Cruiser (PT Loser I call them) and then Ford jumped in with the T-Bird and the Mustang, although Ford has definatly had mre success with Mustang

i dont think he means taht ford invented the idea of making retro cars...
im assuming he was just relating it to the fact that ford is making their 'pony' car retro, perhaps gm will do the same, thusly, sort of copying ford...

Hopefully running by the weekend. Gonna run her good too!
Yeah what he said... I know ford didnt come up with the retro look, Honestly I dont like any of the rerto cars specially the PT cruiser and T-Bird. As far as the 05 Mustangs they are alright I wouldnt spend 30 - 40 grand for it but thats just me. I was just assuming that Chevy always goes after Ford by trying to top them so I just figured they might go retro also.

JD, I hope they do come out with a Crapmaro and hopefully they'll not make the same mistake they did with the GTO and make a 400HP sunbird with Z-28 emblems.
I doubt Ford is going to increase the HP in the stang if the Camaro comes into production. We all know Ford was never competitive when it came to HP during the last 2 decades so why change now?
Imagine, it'll be great to revive the Pony wars with the Stang, Camaro and Challenger.

I like maros but is a bad thing for us mustang owners. 99 - 04 owners need mods to hang with stock lt1's at least 3 years older. the ls1's that stopped in 02 are up there wit 05 stangs. it seems like ford never cared about making the stang faster than the camero. BTW shouldnt the new camero be a monster now that Gm cars are sharing the vette motor
Hmmm, I'm kinda curious to see what they make it look like- I'm sure it'll be retro, but then again if this comes out in like 4 years, it may be totally different.
I would still never buy one because it's a maro. I'm curious to see the challenger too.
To me that's good news. Although a little far away yet. Between ford, GM and chrysler the imports should suffer a little bit. It'll also give us a lot more choices @ the time of getting some amreican muscle. Good for GM.
They don't have to do anything to the motor/looks, they can just start back from the '02 body style if you ask me. I just want forged internals. I'll decide the power adder myself. Wonder how many 800-1000rwhp street cars you'd see...
The mustang was spanking the camaro up intill the mid 90s, before then a camaro had no chance against a stang.Didnt you see the concept pictures of the camaro it looked like the 69s....Nice.I hope they do come back out I couldnt beleive they got rid of it.I always was a TA fan anyways so Lets see it

Eh, as early as '87 the Camaro's had more hp. Before that they had an equal amount. By '89 they had 240hp and it increased to 245hp before the debut of the III gen LT1. I guess in a roundabout way, '93 was really the first year that the Camaro seperated itself from the Mustang. But from '87-'92 the Mustang and Camaro were fairly similar in performance.
The camaro would be interesting to see.. but.. the challenger... I can see it now another 4 door sedan wanna be muscle car like the charger... god I hate that thing.. they totaly ruined the name by coming out with that pos
