They don't have to do anything to the motor/looks, they can just start back from the '02 body style if you ask me. I just want forged internals. I'll decide the power adder myself. Wonder how many 800-1000rwhp street cars you'd see...
You just missed the target by a mile; this is what drove the Camaro out of business in the first place.
The majority of the population do NOT want a car capable of running 10's on stock motor; they don't even know what a 1/4 mile is. GM needs to make the Camaro look pretty and drive comfy for the 18 year old girl whoes daddy buys her a V6 auto Convert. This is where the Mustang eats the Camro alive.

No, I understand that no one wants an uncomfortable, loud, fast car. That's why the GT's/6's sell so well. They're comfortable, quiet, and peppy. I just said what I wanted to see happen. That's why I kept refering to myself in it.
I know not many other people would give a rats ass about how fast it is. They'd buy some flowmasters and tell everyone they're fast.

The release date is 2009, alot could happen both good and bad in that amount of time. The reality is that wheather you like it or not the new Camaro could be a good thing for Stang owners, it might force Ford into putting more power into the Stang.
JD, I hope they do come out with a Crapmaro and hopefully they'll not make the same mistake they did with the GTO and make a 400HP sunbird with Z-28 emblems.
I doubt Ford is going to increase the HP in the stang if the Camaro comes into production. We all know Ford was never competitive when it came to HP during the last 2 decades so why change now?
Imagine, it'll be great to revive the Pony wars with the Stang, Camaro and Challenger.
So it's OK to say crapmaro, but the first time anyone says anything even remotly bad the 05 Stang, the owners get all worked up into a tizzy and leave. I am pretty sure that GM learned thier lesson with GTO, as far as the camaro being retro styled, who knows in four years the whole retro fad will most likley be played out.

Crapmaro, Fireturd, .... where's your sense of humor?
I'll say it, I think the last Camaro looked way better than a new Stang. I think the car makers should quit relying on the old to bring in the new. Simply put, they've all lost their ability to come up with a fresh new style. So they turn to the past and everyone eats that crap up. I think the new Mustang is not very appealing. But I also don't like the new Vette or GTO look either. But at least they put 400hp engines in those ugly cars, not some 3v wannabe. The problem with Ford is that yes, they appeal to that crowd who doesn't care about speed, hence the v6 model, but when it came to the GT they got it all wrong. Why wouldn't an 8Cyl model come with over 300hp stock? Makes no sense to me. Anyways, I look forward to some fresh meat, so I say, welcome new Maro.

i like the first gen, and last gen of maros.. so either go retro, or stick with what it was before and ill like them. i hope they put out good power, so that mustang finally start bringing out more ponies.

You mean it's not already? Look at the new Mustang. I've taken ****s that look better.
When it's all said and done deep down you'll know Ford did a great job with the new Mustang and you don't want to admit to it. Granted the HP is not there, and we will have to wait for an overpriced Shelby Cobra for decent horse power. One thing GM is good for is the big horse power push rod engines and I wish Ford did the same.
I still would love it if GM starts producing Camaros once again. Not that I'll buy one but it'll be a shame if they don't.

Ha, totaly how I feel. I would like to see the new Camaro based off of the Holden/GTO platform, but with better styling. The GTO is really a well engineered car from just about every stand point, looks aside. I would however like to see a solid axel rear end in the Camaro, for cost savings and for power handling ability.

Sure Ford made a car that appeals to alot of people, I can't argue that, the thing is selling well. But, and please don't take this personal, the majority of people buying them are not what I would consider to be "car people", sure there are exceptions like you, but I am talking about the majority of the owners that I have met. You said you wish Ford would make a pushrod motor like GM, but do you know that the LSx series of engines were almost scrapped for a DOHC motor. I am glad that did'nt happen.

I like maros but is a bad thing for us mustang owners. 99 - 04 owners need mods to hang with stock lt1's at least 3 years older. the ls1's that stopped in 02 are up there wit 05 stangs. it seems like ford never cared about making the stang faster than the camero. BTW shouldnt the new camero be a monster now that Gm cars are sharing the vette motor
there's no tellin where ford will be in 09 w/ the mustang, but i bet they will still be around. and ford didnt care about making the stang faster then the maro. they didnt make it for that. they built a smaller sports car that would cost less and be more efficient. they basically just wanted a piece of the market, and look what happened. some pretty smart business decisions in ford, and not so good in chevy dont you think?

I personally hope they bring it back, retro or not it just doesn't seem right not having new Camaro's in the dealers lots to buy. I would probably still buy a Mustang but I would like to have choice between them. As much as people like one or the other, you have to admit it was alot more fun when you could buy both and the smack talking was high. To me Rear Wheel Muscle is just plain awesome no matter what brand is stamped on the ass.

I think this supposedd concept for the Camaro looks great. It looks much better than the 05 Mustang IMO. I still love it because it's a Mustang and I've been passionate about them since I was about 5. I'll always be partial to the '66-'70, '87-'93, and '99-'04 model years. I just don't think the 05 looks nearly as good as the 04.
And whoever said that Dodge f***ed up the Charger... I completely agree. That thing is ugly. The front end looks like a goddamn Durango! (Durango's are nice, but come up with something original for the Charger!!!)

I would love see a solid rear axle in the Cobra as well, or at least as an option. Why in the world would you build a 400+hp car with an IRS is beyond me, at least the way Ford slaps them in. At least with a Vette, it has better anti-slip technology to plant the wheels to the ground around turns. I would have definitely taken the solid option if I had the choice, but that's my preference. I know I would have suffered comfort, but who buys this car for comfort? I want to be able to drop the hammer at 4 grand without worry of losing a half shaft or something else in the rear...
I look forward to what this new Camaro will look and be like. Who knows, maybe I'll switch...NOT! But it will be fun to race against...
