Default New Stang - Accessories?

Hello all

Now an offical Mustang GT 2005 owner and it feels great Thank you all for your advice with buy my Stang, I was very lucky to pick up the exact model/Colour/Engine that I was after from a customer who cancelled which avoided the long waiting list anyway I picked it up in September when I am next in Florida.

Now its all paid for I am looking at extra accessories to buy from Ford and I really like the look of the Remote Start System which from what my dealer says is available in two models (basic and a bells and whilstles one) they also said the more expensive one has some sort of alarm function on it? Does anyone have this option as a extra?

Also Keyless Entry looks great too!

Anyone offer any advice on these upgrades please?

Thanks again all, glad to be here!

Stuart

My experience with other vehicles, you usually get screwed on things such as remote starts and alarms from a dealer. Check your local auto av/alarm installer shop, I'm sure there are plenty near you.

If I had an Auto....I would definitely get a remote start, they are awesome....too much of a pain in a manual though!

Was near 400 for my girlfriends Remote start on 05 focus.
high cost because off the pass key system. They need to make an extra key for the system. and another part has to be purchased. Also opted for the one fob does all, vs just a fob for remote start, and the factory one.

Had to be brought back for reprogramming twice because unlock door wasnt working right.

was a reliable alarm shop, and they do installs for the Ford dealer.

I had an Aftermarket Remote Start added... it was $250... it also added a second alarm horn, and it is intergrated with the alarm system such that if someone tries to "drive off" with it in remote started mode the alarm will go off and the car will shut down. Another GREAT feature is the remotes work everything + the Remote start and work as far as 1500 feet away. The factory remotes only work like from 30 feet.

I also has a FORD Automatic Day/Night mirror with Homelink Garage controls, Temp and Compass installed by the dealer.

I have the Gentex one, which I believe the the ford one without the ford packaging. I'm having trouble with the temp sensor, no matter where I put it, it eventually creeps up due to engine heat...or maybe road heat when I have it below my bumper. Is your accurate, if so....do you know where they put the temp sensor??

Thanks

I too had that problem... I moved my censor and cliped it to the grill just beside my fog light... works great there!

The only options I got from the dealer were lojack and a 3 year/36000 mile maintenace plan. It includes all maintenance and parts (brakes, plugs, filters, etc) except for tires. I would have gotten the remote start, but I have a manual trans and the remote start won't work with a stick (you have to press the clutch to start the car)

Thank you, think I am going to go with the factory remote start (upgraded version) but I think thats it from Ford, going to give the Keyless entry a miss, can't really see myself using it now I think about it.
